Wentz is better than Minshew and Zappe and if he doesn't sign elsewhere if Wentz decided he wanted to go back to the Chiefs Reid would take him back in a second.

Also it doesn’t work like that. Teams don’t sign backup QBs and then drop them two weeks later because another mediocre backup is available. If they wanted Wentz he’d be in the team.

I think this is true but also not really applicable to Wentz/KC. I think Wentz is still looking to at least compete for a starting role and that isn’t an option in KC.

If Wentz was willing to be a backup with no chance to compete for a starting job he would still be a Chief.

Ah I see what you’re saying now. That makes more sense, but I think it’s a done deal now, very unlikely he goes back to KC, and even if he shows interest, I doubt KC would cut Minshew for a higher priced Wentz and lose the money Minshew signed for. They signed Minshew knowing Wentz was gone.

I worry Carson is doing the same thing he did in the 2023 offseason which was make it known that he wanted to at least be in competition for a starting spot and that took him off the FA list for a lot of teams. Pretty sure I heard the Jets were willing to sign him after Rodgers got hurt but were scared off by that expectation from him when they wanted Zach Wilson to be the starter. Hopefully Wentz and his representation can read the room and if he has to take a backup job behind a young or mediocre starter that's about as good as he can hope for since it would give him a chance to make some spot starts if the starter is injured or ineffective.

It could be four in a row with Cam, depending on how loose you want to be with your definition of “starting QB.” Trey Lance technically started the first game of what would have been the 2019-2020 season. Cam technically started the last game of the 2019-2020 season. He then started the majority of the 2020-2021 season.

That story is at least a couple of days old and recycled. It seems like the Browns are in no hurry to add Wentz to their roster. I kink of hope the Steelers end up adding Wentz and he dominates the Browns in both games.
