Kids a true freshmen. I would rather save him for when he's not a true freshman. There is nothing he can do that Cam or Quincy can't do.
Save him for an emergency, as in we lose both our QBs

If they wanted to get fired, it may be a really good idea.

Disagree. He runs better than cam and throws better than Quincy.
Start cam but let the kid get some snaps. Way more utility than qp provides in those gadget plays.

They might be gadget plays, but they are serving a much broader purpose. Now that Miller is the starter QPs snaps are a threat. He is likely settling down. At some point he is going to throw and burn whatever team for a big play just when we need it. And in case anyone wonders, it is working. He goes in when running seems to be the best option and as we saw today he is a decoy that draws a defense allowing for someone else to make the play. Miller will get 85% of the snaps, no problems with having QP take 15%, it makes other teams take time to practice on him.

Have to respectfully disagree with you, my friend. The QP package took us out of rhythm and screwed up the entire offense. One example (and minor compared to how crappy the O looked today in general) is the 2-3 unforced, baffling false-starts. You switch QBs up, that’s what you’re gonna get.

I know that the first person I look to when a linemen screws up is the 2nd QB.

Last week I thought it was fluid and worked well. He was in and out and things never seemed to miss a beat.
Today it was clunky and I cringed that any time we needed 2 yards TR went right to his favorite QB run up the middle.

You don’t get it, which is understandable.

Sorry, just not interested in blaming other people for problems that aren’t theirs.

Have we seen him attempt a pass this year? All we saw was him running though the Valparaiso defense on a day we rushed for 450 yards and 10 per clip

The over use of read option out of shotgun took us out of rhythm, IMO
I think the offsides had more to do with a new center and then LG

Yes and most of them went in the turf.

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
I really don’t care for the QP plays. Without a deep throw it is so predictable. I didn’t hate both in the game at the same time. Payton’s time will come…you think he was good out of high school, wait until Hedberg has him for a year and he has strength and conditioning.

Re: 2021 Verbal: Cole Payton
I don’t care if QP runs the ball as long as it’s for positive yards. If it was only a yard or two average then I’d have a problem. Kind of like A-Gap Power over and over again. Why stop if it works. Also, why in all that is holy did we quit running the ball in the first quarter?!! 6 yards a pop and we start to throw the ball. :banghead:

He averaged 6 yards per carry. Bison fans find strange things to complain about.

Every QB has a cadence and rhythm. O-Linemen get used to a particular cadence and may anticipate the count which causes them to accidentally jump off sides. A half second delay in the cadence can majorly screw things up and result in penalties.
CAS is 100% correct in this case.

That my post needed this much in-depth extra info is telling. I’ll add that each QB also has a different voice and emphasis on count calling, which taxes Oline more and results in hesitation off the ball.
It’s similar to the RB rotation we have moved away from for the most part. Also similar is bringing in QP too much. These things throw off the O getting into a rhythm/being in sync like it should/can be. And Miller is a feel QB—get out of his way a bit and let him get his feel for game/D.

Meh, I think the the o linemen’s eyes and ears work and they can count. They know who’s in the game and they’ve worked plenty with both of them.

Thanks for clarifying, that was what I was trying to get at as well, you said it better.

Meh, I think you’ve never played competitive college football, and, resultantly, don’t/can’t understand nuances of doing so and what it requires to be successful. The simple/basic things matter. Some of my best friends to this date are former Olinemen, who I’ve talked with/communicated about this and former RB rotation fiasco. But what do they know, only one of them is in the College Football HOF, and only a few others were All-Americans and in the NDSU HOL.
As a number guy, I’d think you’d get this...

I think it’s pretty silly to blame one guy for the whole thing. I think that the people making these decisions have backgrounds comparable to the people you reference and they they’ve concluded differently as it regards the risks and rewards for the team.

Wow. Do you ever yield to people who have more experience on a particular subject than you?

I respect BAudit on a lot of levels. He smart enough to figure this out. Might be similar to meetings he participates in and dreads if someone other than the regular/main moderator/person is in charge and that person is poor at managing meetings. Maybe a poor analogy, but guessing he and most people get it.

Except of the 4 offsides penalties, only 1 was on an offensive lineman.
The other 3 penalties were on 1) TE Stoeffl (New guy), a fullback and Luepke, who shifted to TE on the play
Every false happened after Jalen Sundel got hurt and later we lost Nash Jensen
What next Cas, blame Quincy on the 3 drops?

I know that CAS has forgotten more about football than I will ever know. Makes sense to me. Good information CAS.

Cas is right. Don’t comment on something you have no clue about.
QP package is awful and kills the rhythm of the real QB. Miller. Cadence between the QBs is different and was the reason we had multiple false starts.

I'm not an expert at this but I've talked with enough offensive players on the field to know this is possible. All offensive players go off the cadence not just OL.
