Praise the Lord, I saw the light!.
I saw the light, I saw the light!
What did they do back when booze had no right
They drank from a cup and cleaned up their site.
Praise the Lord! I saw the light!
Got loud and crazy, the cops kicked me out
My neighbors were quiet, no reason to shout
I just wanted someone to see me with a beer.
The neighbors went all day, with no need to fear.
Oh I saw the light, I saw the light!
No more an asshat, no more a blight.
The lessons I've learned have set my self right!
Praise the Lord, I saw the light!
I was a fool to wonder what may,
I should have known that there'd come a day,
when I might just learn how these rules all came about.
Praise the Lord! And pass me the Stoudt! (Shhhhh)
I saw the light, I saw the light
No more damn bitching, the end is in sight!
Take back what I said 'bout the cups we have to use.
Praise the Lord! And pass me the booze!
Praise the Lord! Which cup should I choose!

Just hold ~250 tailgate spots per game for sale to the general public just like they hold the ~1500 tickets for each game and sell those to the general public. They could also avoid the cluster that the reserved lineup became last week since they could use both parking lot entrances for reserved tailgaters.
That would save time in getting into the lot.

just open the south and east lots its 2017 and its time. let's do it

At the very least, I wish they would just line up the lot E and F people in D and the lot G people in C. Use both entrances for the reserved rush instead of one.

That is literally word for word what he said. I asked for an interpretation of it. Is he actually *wink-wink* telling us to tailgate in the east lots like TSCF is suggesting?

Certainly how I took it. I thought it was very, very cleaver how he did it, too since not way he can get in any trouble for what he said. I have other contacts at NDSU who have told me they know folks are drinking in the east......

Tailgating is open in lot C, always has been but Alcohol is not allowed, of course you can roll the dice and maybe get away with it

I was thinking about getting a group of groups to go over there with us so we are all in it together. Strength in numbers, if you will. Pretty tired of the line situation, just want a place to setup and have some fun.

I just don't see how he could suggest it's the same to tailgate in the East if he doesn't expect us to drink over there.

I agree, probably going to take some rogue warriors to test it out...

For MVSU the lot attendant when we entered just said to be cool. We were 5 cars away from getting into the GA lot

Low-key drunkenness is about as fun as sitting on your hands during a lap dance.
-
Re: 2017 Tailgating Changes
You know. We have such a strong community that you could easily take a lawn chair and cooler pretty much anywhere and tailgate. If you want to get rowdy, go to a rowdy tailgate. If you are mellow, go to a mellow tailgate. If you want to set up your stuff and do laps, do laps.
-
Re: 2017 Tailgating Changes
Maybe they should allow the east lots to tailgate all game? Use it as a test run to relaxing the rules.

Of COURSE they should do that but heaven and earth will have to be moved.

Re: 2017 Tailgating Changes
Well, if any groups want to volunteer to test out the East side with the FC, you can message me. I'd rather not go it alone, if I can convince my group to do it.

Well no offense, but I'm not sure your group should be the one to try this. Just sayin.

I realize the reputation we have, but it's really quite a bit different than the reality of the situation. We are a little more visible, which is why I would like my group to be the one to try it. If we can do it without issue, why can't anyone else? See also: strength in numbers.
We've always pushed the limits, what do we have to lose? We don't have a lot of us willing to commit Friday/Saturday to doing this anymore as we have families, etc.
-
Re: 2017 Tailgating Changes
It seems to me he was implying to go over there and tailgate and just keep any drinking low key. Police yourselves well...All it would take is one idiot to wreck it for everyone.

You guys are high profile; you know that, so you will have to be super good. (Yes, I know this is unfair.) I'd suggest waiting to set up until the GA lot is basically full, as you will then hopefully have other GA denied folks come with. They will see you like a beacon of hope.

That would be fine with me. It's also going to be a LOT quieter over there in general, so will be easier to contain whatever we have going on. The idea would be to show up as the GA lot is opening or shortly after and get in the back of the line. However, Simmers does mention if you don't like the setup on that side, try the other side. We shall see.

I think you are over thinking this. GO to the east lot and set up. Simple. This isnt some kind of military maneuver.
BUT now that you are older may be you dont think you want to make a big deal about it now? Possible ramifications?
Heres a hint. If you cant act in a reasonable manner dont do it. If you can tailgate with out trying to make a big show and bring attention to your selves have at it.

Not trying to bring attention to OURSELVES, but more or less to another option. I was essentially thinking about using our apparent visibility in a positive light to draw attention to another location. I don't want to make a big deal about it, I just want people to know so they don't get turned away. Not everyone listens to 1660, nor did they hear that interview. Not trying to pull a fast one, just want to foster some positive changes.
If we set up over there, you can believe we will self police(as we have in the past during "illegal" spring game tailgates).

What's the worst that can happen, they come and tell you no booze you pack up and head home or walk to the west lot
Best case, nothing happens you have a good tailgate everyone sees hell didn't freeze over you do it again till it's cold enough the GA line drops. I say go for it as planned. I'm guessing the biggest thing will be keeping the beer and booze out of site, and in cups. This something they have really slowed the policing on in the west reserved anyway.

That's the benefit to the bus. It's extremely easy to keep anything inside the bus and out of plain view. And, since it's registered as an RV, it is legal to drink in the back portion of the bus as long as you are behind the drivers seat.

I tailgated on the east side once and cops were actually smelling people's cups. To get around it we had to be super discrete. It wasn't very enjoyable since I felt like I was always on the lookout but our behavior was impeccable

Re: 2017 Tailgating Changes
i guess my thing is if they are already taking resources to police it and "smell cups" WTF difference does it make if they allow people to drink, it will be a lot less strain on the enforcers IMO

Re: 2017 Tailgating Changes
The one or two times we were over there, granted no alcohol on our part at that time, but the attendants or whoever was policing that side just came over and said if you have anything you're drinking please just put it in plastic cups and don't think he was specifically saying beer etc but really anything. The whole idea behind that is then nobody knows what exactly you have in your cup and someone (specifically underage) would come along and grab it. I'm pretty sure if you keep it low key and make sure nobody gets overly rambunctiously drunk and causes "problems" (good or bad!) they will not "kick" you out. Frisco Cruiser crew... as mentioned you'd have to have everyone on the straight and narrow. Plus be all yes sir/no sir proper like just due to background already, it could go either way in my opinion it could be used as proof this CAN work over here too. TM obviously can't "officially" say tailgating with alcohol is approved in Lot C as it has to be "formally" approved through whatever process they have to jump through. But if nobody can 100% prove that you're drinking by pictures of cans, they would have to physically take the cups from you and confined in an evidence bag to prove you were doing anything wrong!
