COLUMBUS, Ga.-- Jada Shorter became the University of Jamestown's first-ever NAIA diving champion with her first-place finish at the NAIA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Columbus Aquatics Center.
Shorter won the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 236.75 in the finals, slightly higher than the 233.85 she posted in the preliminaries. She becomes a two-time All-American after finishing fourth at last year's nationals.
Laurel Knox earned a 14th-place finish in the 1650 free, finishing in 18:02.00. Knox also competed in the 200 free and 500 free but did not advance to the finals.
Sulinke Vandenberg made her second consecutive appearance at nationals. She swam the 100 fly, 100 back, and 200 back, but just missed making the finals by a few places.

Winsday: UJ makes third straight trip to Kansas City
Men's Basketball
Posted 5 hours ago
The Jimmie men's basketball team earned its third straight trip to the NAIA National Tournament Round of 16 on Wednesday with a 95-88 win over Peru State (Neb.) College at Harold Newman Arena.
Mason Walters poured in a game-high 35 points, one of four Jimmies in double digits. Marc Kjos added a season-high 20 points, including six three-pointers. Will Cordes finished with 15 points and Cole Woodford 13.
Jamestown got off to a fast start, taking an 8-2 lead just 93 seconds into the game. The Bobcats went on a hot streak of their own, outscoring UJ 19-9 to pull in front by four with 12:22 in the half.
That would be the largest lead deficit the Jimmies faced in the first twenty minutes, and a Walters three-point play gave UJ its largest of the half (40-30) with 2:37 remaining.
A 12-2 start to the second half increased Jamestown's advantage to 20 and it appeared UJ was well on its way to victory. Down 74-60 at the eight-minute mark, Peru State locked in and made it a three-point game just under four minutes later.
Walters finished off a 10-1 Jimmie run that essentially put the game away at 91-79. The Bobcats did get as close as five down the stretch, but Reid Gastner and Cordes were perfect at the foul line to clinch the win.
Eleventh-ranked Jamestown (27-6) will face No. 6 Indiana Tech (29-4) on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Really fun game to be at last night. Mason needs the next 6 days to rest and get healthy. He has alot of wear on his tires this year. Hope he can be close to 100% by tuesday. Still at 85% he scores and dominates.

Excellent stuff pucknut....winning on many fronts! My nephew played at Peru State years ago and they had a beautiful natural bowl for football. I believe its the oldest state school in Nebraska. And the cafeteria folks took exceptional care of those players. He said he never ate so well in his life!

Heartbreaker for the Jimmie men’s hockey team. Up 3-2 with time running out only to have Ohio score with .1 second left to tie it up and then lose in overtime. That close to the semi finals. Ouch

Re: University of Jamestown to the Great Plains Athletic Conference
This isn’t about UJ but Nebraska. Jamestown’s own Darin Erstad had his baseball number retired over the weekend in Lincoln. Very well deserved. Had the privilege of coaching him in bantams and by far the most intense kid I’ve coached in my 39 years of coaching hockey. Obviously it paid off

The Wyoming program is a complete dumpster fire right now. I'm surprised he didn't go somewhere where he had a chance to play and win.

Re: University of Jamestown to the Great Plains Athletic Conference
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (Valley News Live) - The University of Jamestown has received a $15 million gift from Jim and Candy Unruh. President Dr. Polly Peterson says it is the largest single donation in university history, as well as the largest single gift given to private education in North Dakota.
The gift goes toward the creation and naming of University of Jamestown’s new School of Character in Leadership and will support the renovation of the Voorhees Chapel and a new building that will become the center for faith and life. This gift kickstarts UJ’s next capital campaign, which will launch publicly in the fall.

New indoor athletic and wellness facility expected November 2023
JAMESTOWN, N.D.—University of Jamestown announced it is constructing an athletic “bubble” on campus. The indoor athletic and wellness facility will be located next to the Harold Newman Arena, over the current turf field.
“We’re constantly exploring options that support our students’ growth outside of the classroom,” explained President Dr. Polly Peterson. “This new indoor facility will give our students year-round opportunities to develop in co-curricular activities, which we believe are vital to a strong student experience.”

Jimmie women lose a tough one to Concordia 2-1 in overtime. Cobbers came out strong in the first leading 1-0 but then it was the Jimmie’s with the better play tying it up with 5 to go. Jimmie’s took a penalty in ot and that’s when the Cobbers won it. Fun game to be at

MOORHEAD — The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference will visit the University of Jamestown this week, with the school hoping to impress enough to get an invitation.
If all goes well, the North Dakota school could know by Thanksgiving whether it'll be on its way to NCAA Division II.
It's a big week.
"It's going to be everything you think it could be," Jamestown athletic director Austin Hieb said Tuesday. "They'll meet with coaches, administrators, student-athletes, weight-training staff. They'll look at the campus and facilities, of course. They'll be checking out everything."
An NSIC contingent including presidents, chancellors, athletic directors, conference staff, senior women's administrators and faculty athletics representatives will be on-site Wednesday and Thursday.

This move makes sense on so many levels. The GPAC while a good bb conference, you aren't close to anyone and have no natural rivalries. The GPAC is predominately a Sioux City/Omaha based league. Jamestown's closest conference team is Mitchell SD.
NSIC while presenting some challenges in Football, works better from from a travel standpoint. UJ's faciliities are fine and many teams (BB and Volleyball) are already mid tier level NSiC teams.

I really do not see what reason U of J would not get invited to join. Basketball has been solid, Volleyball solid, T & F good, baseball good, football will be the week point, but they have u of Mary and Minot State so there is that. One question would be does the NSIC have womens wrestling? I will just go ahead and look if they do.

I also believe the NSIC is losing a school, so they would be an odd number thus adding a school balances the divisions. The GPAC was adding a school in Iowa so they would have been an odd number of teams. Thus an additional reason to vote out UJ to get to an even number.
