You guys are both wrong...10 of the tickets are for me and my relatives, and the other 13 are for "friends". I'll buy my friends anyway I can.
Now, maybe we (meaning not me) should think about buying some of those parking passes that are available on the various ticket brokers, so we can have a tailgate area next to the stadium.

I can attest to this, I know my wife is very good friends with runtheoption. She likes his van.

Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
She likes boys from SE North Dakota...evidently boys from NW North Dakota can't hold their liquor and like going to bed early.
Should be a good game. Gophers might be sick of losing by then. Our Defense will give them fits and Sam the Man Ojuri has 140 yards and 2 scores while DJ has 90 yards and 1 score for a Bison victory
Good times...can't wait.

Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
Decided to not play the waiting game. Just paid for for me and my girls. Best game we saw together was in the homerdome last time (and mixed in hannah frickin montana). Can't wait.

Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
Quick question? does anyone know if you can drink in the suites. My in-laws purchased some tickets for our group in the suites or boxes. It would be sweet to have a couple of beers during the game. We had a suite at the Iowa state game, and it was definitely worth it.

Completely false! They have been "working on this" since the little place opened....it's not going to happen under any circumstances. Won't even be brought to a floor vote this year. I know it's a tall task, but don't confuse yourself with the panel's approval.
On another note, I bought 6 tickets, 18 rows up on the visitors' 30 for $325 which included 2 parking passes to lot 37!!

I am looking forward to the line of cars full of Bison fans on I-94, just like last time. It was an awesome sight.

Over on GopherHole it seems even when Lakes is being pretty nice, Gopher fans feel the need to go after us. I smell either overconfidence, or fear. Either way, I feel pretty good about our chances now.

I've quit trolling other message boards a long time ago because you can never tell which of their posters are their versions of Lakes or not and I don't have a use for cyber trash-talk (including on this board). But my guess is that you're reading overconfidence.
Not sure how a fanbase's reaction one way or the other would change your view of our chances though. I like our chances because we have a bye week before, our team will be way more amped for that game, and because no matter how good of a coach Jerry Kill is or isn't his players will be initially shocked by how good our players are. All of that is true no matter what their fans think.
The truth is that if they have an average Big Ten team next year and they show up for the game, we are in trouble. If they are terrible again and/or don't show up, they could find themselves behind faster than they think and may get into a hole that they aren't capable of climbing out of. Strangely, because of the dynamic of the game, I don't see either team with any chance of pulling themselves out of a 10 point gap in this game.

I feel good about ndsu's chances! You guys have a nice defense. Reality though, lakesbison was stirring the pot for a week before today...if you're a dbag for a lifetime and decide to try to be decent for a day doesn't mean you will be treated decent...people don't forget!
And gopher fans/alum enjoy making fun of north dakota just like the rest of the usa-between lakesbison and und north dakota is tough to defend!

exactly what I'm talking about. Why go to another team's board, talk trash, and get your facts wrong? Are you (and I mean you and anyone else who'd go to another team's board to chat about anything other than "where is a good place to party/tailgate/get a hotel") so hard up for attention that you'll poke a virtual hornet's nest just to get a reaction?
Lakes lives in MN. And the rest of the country does not make fun of ND. ND has qualities which people from there and not poke fun at.

Well a lot of the country makes fun of north dakota due to stereotypes the same way minnesota is made fun of, wisky, etc. I'm not on a horse as high as yours mnriverbison but I like fan interaction and trash talk. My problem is we play 3 games as well as an offseason before the bison. Ndsu fans are making this game more than it is and lakes makes all of you look bad!

All I am saying is they could really take a page from Montana State fans, before we played them, they were a nice bunch, were pretty honest about their team. Yeah Lakes really mucked things up but goodness, lots of hate over there. Maybe its a reaction to what USD did last year?

Lakes makes himself look stupid. Nobody else. Just like how you only make yourself look dumb by extrapolating one idiot's behavior onto an entire fan base. For example, I won't declare that all gopher fans are dumb just because you post here.
As for the game, it is a big deal for us. We recruit against other FCS schools and BCS victories, no matter how poor the BCS opponent, matter in that arena. Also, a lot of alums live in MSP so this game serves as a de facto reunion for many.
For casual Bison fans, this is always going to be the most important game. For hardcore fans, it probably ranks as 2nd or 3rd depending on each fan's priorities. It is very likely the least important game to Gopher fans and players. That is life as an FCS team and it actually can play to our advantage. More available seats and the chance to sneak up on a team are advantages we'll gladly accept.
As for "enjoying trash talk" and using that as a justification for seaking out other team's fan sites, that is an attention seeking disorder that I'm not qualified to treat. But I am qualified to tell you that many sites have "trash talk" sections that you should look into.

Although I have had concerns with Golden's visits and posts from the past, the post which initiated this discussion does not bother me.
He paid NDSU a nice complement (which a troll would not do), he noted the Lakes effect (which all of us recognize and a number are critical of), and he noted that Minnesotans and others like to make fun of ND.
I am ND all the way, despite living in MN for 20 plus years. Bred there, born there and lived most of my life there. I learned a long time ago not to take myself seriously while taking my work / results seriously. I have also taken and given folks from a lot of different parts of the country a bad time. In southern MN, its the Ioweigans that get the focus. And they in turn, pick on MN, Missouri, and at times the Sconies (makes me think Lakes is actually from Iowa). Montana is just as bad with their ND jokes.
After putting up with the screaming dick and his red butt buddies after dealing with unibrows like gottaburnit and the purplehelmet, we should be able to accept a complement even though it is a bit backhanded.
Now, in the words of that Tat guy, "Carry on".

I agree there is lots of "dismissiveness" over there (gopherhole.com) about the Bison program. But lets flip it around a bit. Lets assume that NDSU scheduled University of Minn -Duluth this year. First, our fanbase would be pissed that we scheduled someone from a lower division. Secondly, if "LakesBulldog" showed up as the primary representative of their fanbase, well you can imagine the reception the rest of the fanbase would get. Third, the game is four months away and would not be a "big" game on our schedule, we would be much more excited about UNI etc.
Personally, I think we should be low key going into these games. Some of the coolest things I have ever read on the internet was after the Central Michigan games a couple of years ago when their board went into epic meltdown. Basically the impression I got reading that board was the Bison fans were humble before and after the game. But the biggest thing that struck the Central Michigan fans was they could tell we expected to play them tough and have a chance to win.

Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
Reminds me of the shuttle bus ride I took last year in Lawrence. KU fans were stunned that there were Bison fans riding on the bus that were confident about the results of the game. On the ride after the game, KU fans were absolutely silent, whipped little puppies.

OH yes--when the bus driver tried to save face by saying that the Bison were more than welcome to come back and try their basketball team and HM said OH do they play football too. I thought I was going to fall out of my seat.

ha i guess my limited interest in ndsu basketball and football means im seaking out "other teams sites." i know a kid who is being recruited by ndsu for hoops which has sparked my interest a bit. i guess im in the same boat as lakesbison because i do the "rah rah" thing for gopher athletics. when i truly believe it will be a boring close game when we take on your team. something like a 10-9 barnburner with good defense and gross offense.
my added interest has always been from the 2006 game when ndsu fans were telling gopher fans we needed to respect your div 2 championships. i have dealt with arrogant fanbases like ohio st and michigan but never heard anything like the bison fans were spitting.
and now we have guys coming to the gopher msg board(gopherhole) and saying ndsu is too good for fbs conferences like the wac and right now they would be a top 2-3 team in the mac because they destroyed central mich in 06. i respect ndsu's team and all but you guys havent had a winning record in the mvfc yet and had a single playoff run that you guys were screwed in on that red field. i am a gopher fan but i dont think we are going to be anything more than a 4-5 win team and im not sold on jerry kill. if guys are going to come to gopherhole and spew b.s. you should expect to get it in return because no one feels ndsu has done anything at the fbs level to prove they are going to be a force. doesnt mean it cant happen! good luck

There was an NDSU fan who said NDSU wouldn't want to join the WAC because it is neither stable nor geographically friendly. I guess that isn't true? While this may shock you, few of us are desperate to be in the FBS and fewer want to join a substandard FBS league just to say we are FBS.
Honestly I think NDSU, SIU or UNI could be top 2-3 in the MAC. The MAC isn't that great, that statement is based on the strength of those football programs and not any individual game.

I have never been to gopherhole. But, your statement about NDSU as being the most arrogant, can we take that as a compliment? I remember walking to the dome with my family wearing NDSU stuff, we were heckled by gopher fans, we weren't cat-calling, the gopher fans were. It didn't bother me much, I figured let it play out on the field, and boy did it ever! NDSU won on both sides of the LOS, dominated the stats and won the second game. To me, that was worth more than any "arragant" statement, either on the fan boards or walking to the dome. We'll let the players play and see who wins, I will be there with my family again. I got a good feeling about NDSU's chances, call me arrogant!

its one thing to believe your team is going to win and another telling people to respect you because of div 2 titles(i heard this from a few hundred people that numerous locations had bizon faithful telling gopher fans the same thing). no one cares what the stat line was-the record stands university of minnesota 7 ndsu 1. most gopher fans didnt care and still dont care about playing ndsu. i dont mind it because i have a lot of ndsu friends that come but they even become a new brand of dbag each passing day. gopher football has been nothing more or worse than average for the last 45 years and i know very little about ndsu's d2 titles because i dont follow d2 football. but again i expect a very boring tight game that comes down to a field goal.
i think you guys have a nice shot at winning. we are in another transition period and you guys have a very good fcs defense. i think very little of your offense because history shows ndsu is not going to put up huge points. your defense wins the games and your offense hopes to not screw anything up.

fargobison
NDSU has has all the regional talent they'd need right in MN, ND SD, Nebraska and Wisconsin. Five states in our region and just three instate FBS schools, NDSU could build a decent program.
The school's problem is that we are not close to any FBS conference. The WAC would probably have us but I'm not sure if we'd want them.
Not sure what doesn't have the fanbase means either, I don't want to go all lakesbison but we seem to have pretty good support at least enough to be in a lower tier FBS conference.
youre right he did say it was because of geography and stability!

Wow, what a brilliant observation.........NDSU's offense has been pathetic for a long time. Even in the Walker years it was just good enough to win. Not since betwen 1980 and 1990 has NDSU's offense been dominant, almost with the ability to score at will back then. Ater that somehow the offensive recruiting and coaching at NDSU has left big holes. One of the biggest failures is a lack of finding and developing very good to excellent QB's. Walker was the exception.

Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
I know this might be hard to believe but in 2007 we were #5 in total offense and #3 in scoring offense in the FCS. The offense was very balanced #37 in passing and #13 in rushing.
In 2006 we were #8 in total offense and #7 in scoring offense. We were #16 in rushing and #34 in passing.
Since 2007 we've actually kept a great rushing attack... #17 in 2008, #6 in 2009 and #35 in 2010.
Passing offense has been nothing but a descent into the abyss though....#66 in 2008, #73 in 2009 and #96 in 2010.

Well, the gopher fans I sat next to at the last 2 NDSU/Minn games make you and all gopher fans look bad.
Game 1: Once the Bibeau FB is blocked, 2 different gopher fans jump up and turn around and point their fingers in my face and start yelling at me saying my team sucks, you shouldn't be playing us, among many other expletives.
Game 2: Sitting in my seats with friends cheering for my team. The 2 ladies sitting in front of me ask me where I got my tickets? I say it doesn't matter where I got them. They then proceed to ask me to leave my seats because I am not cheering for Minnesota. I just laugh because I thought no way this can be real. Now part 2, we win the game and I say good game to the ladies' husband and put my hand out to shake and pulls one of those 'I am going to squeeze your hand as hard as I can' handshakes and tells me to f*** off and to never come back to a gopher game.
So, mr shower, I wouldn't throw stones if you live in a glass house. Yes, lakes may get people riled up and annoy opposing fans, but there are just as many on your side that make you and other gopher fans look just as bad.

Re: 2011 Gopher Game... Let the Planning Begin
If this golden shower fella hasn't realized by now that each and every sports organization from the NFL all of the way down to Pop Warner football has obnoxious, abusive, and even violent fans, then he doesn't know that much about sports in general. That being said, he has no credibility with me. I would encourage all of the BV faithful to simply ignore his disrespectful commentary.

That doesn't happen everywhere...
Unfortunately it will happen at home and away. Keep in mind you will meet wonderful "rivals" as I have with UNI fans both at home and in Iowa. Don't get me wrong "those" less desirable fans were at UNI too, but a good mix. We also met other "rivals" in Terre Haute that welcomed us with BBQ and free tickets.
Mr Shower/Gopher Nation, I'm sure when we walk by your tailgating area, or pass you in the stadium, we would greet each other and rib each other with predictions. Keep in mind, these are kids that are out there giving it all, not us old dudes hiding behind a computer.
To Football...
Go Bison!
