This has nothing to do with the students. Their current academic criteria doesn't change based on where NDSU chooses to play football.

I’m not sure how else to explain this but I will try really slow. HBCU stands for historically black colleges and universities. Historically means in the past. So futures events do not change what their history is.
If they stop getting federal funds that doesn’t mean that their past has changed. They will still be historically black college and universities. If every HBCU stops playing sports they will still be HBCU. If the MEAC folds and the rest of their schools join the IVY league, they are still HBCU.
