Using 2022 can you explain who the 4 and 6 teams would be?

If...if...if...if...if...
When does reality strike.
So when SDSU and Boise hit the road they odds of that conference eclipsing AAC or the Sun Belt go even further down the drain. At least the MAC and CUSA will exist they won't be dead last.

For me, that’s a selling point. But that’s just me.
If we joined the MW, what’s your goal? What’s your selling point to move up?
My goal? I'm a fan. Drink beer, entertainment. You know...what sports are designed for.

Idk if Boise is ever going to leave. I dont know if anyone is going to want a community college in their club?

CFP Selection Committee Rankings:
1. Georgia - SEC
2. Michigan - BIG
3. TCU
4. Ohio St
5. Alabama
6. Tennessee
7. Clemson - ACC
8. Utah - PAC
9. Kansas St - XII
10. USC
11. Penn St
…
16. Tulane - American
Therefore seeds:
1. Georgia
2. Michigan
3. Clemson
4. Utah
5. TCU
6. Ohio St
7. Alabama
8. Tennessee
9. Kansas St
10. USC
11. Penn St
12. Tulane
1st round —> winner plays
Kansas St @ Tennessee —> Georgia
Tulane @ TCU —> Utah
Penn St @ Ohio St —> Clemson
USC @ Alabama —> Michigan

As much as I love that answer I am sincerely asking what the incentive (selling point) is to moving up and what a reasonable goal of your favorite college football team would be once there. You’re saying that it’s not to make the 12-team playoff, so what is it, in your opinion?
Edit: The “I’m not sure, I just love NDSU football” is a perfectly acceptable answer (I’m often there, fwiw).

So if the MWC is rated as the 6th best conference as a whole their champion doesn't get into the 12 team CFP unless that champion is one of the 6 highest rated individual conference champions. Given how the Pac-12 might end up shaping up it could be two of the current G5 conference champions making the CFP from time to time.
But moreover to this general argument I'd agree that NDSU can't really worry about CFP prospects of an individual conference because that's very fluid. 10 years ago the Sun Belt looked like they would never sniff having the highest rated G5 conference champ and now they're one of the leading candidates I'd say. Similarly 10 years ago Tulane was in CUSA but worked their way up the conference pecking order. NDSU should strive to do the same if they move FBS.
The MW is G5 and only P5's get the automatic slot. The 6th spot goes to the champion of the highest rated G5 conference.. That could be any G5 school from any G% conferences "At large" bids are another thing entirely. They get 7 through 12 seeds..
For NDSU to get a 6th seed, you would need to win your conference championship and that conference would have to be rated higher than every other G5 conference. You are not competing against P5's for the automatic 6th seed.

Only the top 4 seeds go to conference champs. They don’t have to be P5 though. If you are the 5th or 6th best conference champ you aren’t automatically the 5th and 6th seeds, you’re just in the tournament, the best at large could be the 5th seed.
Re: A new and better FBS thread
The top 4 seeds get byes for the first round. However, all P5 schools automatically get at least one school in the field of 12. Only 1 G5 school is guaranteed a slot. Another G5 school could theoretically get an at at large but that will be close to impossible. The 1 G5 school would almost certainly be the 12 seed.
