John Elway traded in his first wife (who was Elway's age) for a "newer model" 20 years young than he. She is a former cheerleader.
His first wife bore 4 children and her net worth is $500,000. Elway today has a net worth of $145 million.

My buddy Clint does that. Never puts more then 10 years on a wife and likes getting a new model. Ever since his first wife told him he would have to start wearing condoms because she had herpes eh. After that he learned his lesson eh. Said he could always find someone dumb enough in their mid twenties eh and by gawd he's done it eh. I was shocked too when he told me eh. By golly eh.

I think the first wife knew him "when."
Do they "trade in" or do they "lease?"

Funny story, but I lived there when he came into the league and the locals weren’t big fans the first few years. In today’s NFL they might have shipped him on.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
So is Carson going to wait until the middle of the season again if he signs with a team at all? There has been a lot of terrible QB's that have been traded for or signed and Wentz's name isn't even mentioned. Rams fans wanted him back as the backup but either Carson wanted to wait it out for a better opportunity or they both decided to not run it back.
Not exactly sure what the thought process is for Wentz and his agent...
-
Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
Same story as last year - a bunch of retreads with inferior physical tools to Wentz getting backup/bridge starter contracts. Either he's got an overly inflated view that he should be able to go somewhere to be a starter or there's a stigma around the league about his personality.

my guess is that the stories about Wentz being a complete dick and difficult to work with are true, I tried to give him the Benefit of the doubt but he is like a bag of crack, nobody high profile wants to pick it up unless its an absolute necessity.
hes now getting old enough that he may as well hang it up, afterall he got paid but sadly that may have also been his downfall to a very negative legacy

Ive tried to figure this out. I could only come up with two scenarios. One CW is just off every ones radar. Two-- there are teams that are interested but the terms CW want just isnt to any teams liking.
As far as him being a dick the NFL has proven over the years that as long as you can ball they can work through the dickish issues.

Wait until after hunting season and another season of Wentz bros outdoors eh.

dont know, just think he got a rep of being un coachable/know it all. i mean last year they were literally putting near retired QB's back in the line up and Wentz only made a Backup late. not a popular opinion but I really am starting to think his head got to him, but whatever he got paid, just not the legacy I would want to leave.

Yep this is a tough one to figure.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
In the Rams vs 49ers game to end the season Wentz played with almost completely with Rams backups and Darnold played with 49ers starters for at least half of the game. Wentz outplayed him and won the game. Darnold was talked about all offseason as having his career rebooted by being a backup with the 49ers even though he was basically the same terrible QB he always has been. Vikings signed Darnold and Wentz wasn't even mentioned as an option.
It frustrates me quite a bit. I quit watching the NFL for the most part last season. I had an easy line to cross to figure out which games I considered watchable. If in my opinion the QB's in the game were worse than Wentz I didn't watch. In my opinion that wipes out over half the teams in the league and you know what I didn't miss watching games with terrible QB play.

so its the attitude then? thats what PL and I are discussing, I dont disagree at all, and I know Wentz isnt the worst QB in the league but there is obviously a reason he is overlooked and shunned.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
I still find it hard to believe that he has two completely different personalities. In his public interactions he is always gracious and respectful.
The one thing I read in regards to Wentz with the Colts was some players were turned off when he would talk about Jesus and Christianity with them. It was the understanding in the story I read that he only talked about Jesus and Christianity when the player he was talking to gave him the opportunity.
Another thing that seems to be a constant is that Carson liked to discuss/argue with the offensive coordinator the plays and game plans during preparation. If I remember correctly he supposedly had some vigorous discussions with Tim Polasek at NDSU. Frank Reich mentioned that he was made uncomfortable at times during the discussions and had to remind himself that he was the coach. If that is still an issue and is the reason he isn't on a team it is a shame he hasn't adjusted how he handles himself in meetings and game planning discussions. Hopefully he took something from watching Stafford the last half of last season but I guess we never will know.

not everyone likes to be preached at...fyi...Im one of them doesnt mean I dont believe just dont want to be bombarded with it daily. So I totally get it, STFU on your Religion and do your job that they are paying you for, if you want to be a priest dont play football and sign multi million dollar contracts in the NFL..

I'm a Chiefs fan so I could get on board with him signing with the Chiefs. He will also get great coaching with the Chiefs.
I think he added a lot to the Rams QB room and offense in the time he was there. Their offense was very good after the bye and I think Wentz played a part in that.

Hopefully He learned he isn't the POPE, but sadly its too late in his career IMO.

Why all the hate for Carson being a Christian? Everybody thought it was cool this season when CJ Stroud talked about being a Christian every time he was interviewed.

not everyone likes having beliefs thrown at them all the time.
i for one am one, just FYI and if I was on a team where someone kept preaching at me I would be pissed also.

Really? Everybody? I think not. In fact you can put me in the "not cool" camp. I don't care what your religion is or even whether you have one. Just shut up and keep it to yourself.

That's not how it works. I am not well versed in other religions, but Christians are supposed to spread the Word.
Mark 16:15 King James Version (KJV)
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Well if we’re picking out individual verses to take literally and context free then what’s he doing playing football? Liviticus 11 “and their carcass you shall not touch, it is unclean to you.”

You witness to an individual, expressing your faith in our Lord Jesus Christ; then let the Holy Spirit do the rest. In regards to the Liviticus verse you quoted; It references animals that chew the cud and have divided hooves. Animals that don't chew the cud and have the hoof requirement are pigs, camels, rabbits, and snakes, et al. Are you comparing CW's expressing his faith to animals that God ruled unclean to the Israelites?

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
Wow, all these folks who have been in the Eagles, Colts, and Commanders locker rooms...seeing other playars preached at by CW about Jesus on a daily basis...fascinating.
Christian athletes have to listen to other players constantly yapping about their sexual conquests, drunken exploits, drug-taking experiences...but that's okay cuz that's football! And Man Stuff! Christians get made fun of frequently in locker rooms for being goody two-shoes...but there's no condemnation of that. Yet when a Christian athlete isn't ashamed to say they love Jesus, and want others to love Him too...then he's the jerk. So strange to me.

Re: What sort of thread have you made for us? A Wentz thread, if you can keep it.
No threads can derail quite like Wentz threads can...
