Fargodome trying to convince the Fargo City Commission that they need the city funds to use to support concerts.

The Alerus pays out top dollar to get acts. They haven't posted in the GFH a profit and loss for the last 3 years.

Go look in the city financials if you're that interested.
Though I can't imagine why the last 2 years didn't look great.
Too bad they didn't barely qualify for the Shuttered Venue Act relief. Didn't get lucky to have the right mix during the right time frame like some other venues.

But why didn't the paper post the financials? They used to.

Ask the people in Fargo who print it.

Those numbers should be public, curious that they haven’t been in the paper but at the same time these facilities don’t exist to make money for themselves.

The Alerus Center hasn't lost a ton of money recently. (covid obviously in 2020) Early on they did but a few years they profit and they have a 10.5 million dollar surplus fund they've been funding that is projected to grow to 45 million by 2029. https://www.grandforksherald.com/new...us-center-work.
Rob Ports article says they lost 1.7 million in 2012 despite an article that says they had a 1 million dollar operating surplus. Not sure who to believe but Port takes things out of context to support his claims. If they lose a few hundred grand every so often to put your city on the map and draw hundred of thousands? Sounds like a good deal to me. Maybe Fargo should start something like the non profit Epic Events in West Fargo and offer some guarantees.
**edit** it looks like they have a concert fund in GF where they pay guarantees thar it will draw certain numbers. One year they lost 160 grand on a Neil Diamond concert because it didn't sell well enough. But if promoters approach the Fargodome and they offer 200 grand to some names that you know will draw huge, its a calculated risk. Will Chris Stapleton draw 10k guaranteed or well write you a check?
Grand Forks went with Spectra and they are getting massive shows and are drawing hundred of thousands of people to their city. The Fargodome parted ways and is doing it in house.
Does the Fargodome have people with experience or connections in the concert industry. Sorry but the previous management company got way better shows.
Re: Fargodome officials consider adding seats/BEER for Bison games
is there beer yet for 2022? wtf
Re: Fargodome officials consider adding seats/BEER for Bison games
Watched the Fargo mayor debate and the candidates were asked "Would you support beer in the Fargodome."
1) Mayor Mahoney - Yes (he also talked about the importance of improving the fargodome)
2) Arlette Preston - No (She's said she's a nurse, so she is aware of alcoholism. She also said the dome would be a grain bin 25 years ago)
3 Sherry Fercho - No. (I think she said something about Jesus, families and football being sexist)
4) Michael Borgie - Yes
The other candidates didn't comment.

Jesus turned water into wine at a party hun... don't think he'd mind if we drank some beers at a football game.
