You know damn well they’ll end up on our schedule in two years. Seems like almost every time there is a new school, we have to greet them.

Funniest thing on twitter is the fans of the school to the north trying to dampen any FBS NDSU flames...The very idea of an FBS NDSU terrifies them.

Must not be getting paid too much. They aren’t very good at showing up either.

Is that the Pud Kansas State that is currently 3-0?
Is that the Pud Kansas State that is currently ranked #25?
Is that the Pud Kansas State that is currently playing at 3-0 Oklahoma State today?
KState 23 Stanford 7
KState 31 Southern Illinois 23
KState 38 Nevada 17
Ok St 23 Missouri State 16
Ok St 28 Tulsa 23
Ok St 21 Boise State 20
What weirdness, that’s 2 MVFC teams not named SDSU or NDSU not ‘embarrassing’ themselves against the mighty FBS Big 12……
And more weirdness, those same Big 12 teams both beat teams from the Mountain West…… :)
And more weirdness, the MVFC’s Northern Iowa not ‘embarrassing’ themselves against 16th Ranked Iowa State during week 1, also a Big 12 team
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
Yeah I’m not sure why Lakes always adds the “Pud” in front of schools that are basically who he wants NDSU to be or at least be in their position. I mean I know why but it’s a Big XII team that is currently ranked. “Pud” should only be allowed for the FCS ranks and Scottie’s alone time activities.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
if they chose to bus, they pud. i was just messing around.haha. 250 miles ain't much trip to the twin cities
anyways fox sports runs a story about NDSU QBU. perfect time to us this attention as a springboard with an ADMIN STATEMENT
"NDSU Football & it's facilities are FBS Quality & NDSU actively welcomes a FBS conference invite, yet remains committed to the MVFC"

You continually keep beating the drum of FCS competitiveness. The reality is that it isn’t just about that. It’s also about the perception or lack thereof that is driving the building apathy. We are going to have some tough games on our schedule this season. It doesn’t matter though because the perception is that we are playing beneath our level. The program needs to show that they are willing to strive for something bigger or the apathy is going to continue to grow.

Wait....was he hyping up losing games against K-State and Oklahoma State as evidence of FCS being good?

I enjoy messing with the FOBers……:hungry:
(Fbs Or Bust)
There are only a few Bisonvillers I consider to be true FOBers……
And they tend to be noisy……
And imo there are only a few Fcs Or Bust FOBers on Bville.
The rest, including a big silent majority, I think are somewhere in between. Many, if not most, of the ‘tweeners realize going FBS is not as easy as Chapo/Lakes would have had you think all these years……
But now that change is finally here, with conference realignment (could have been caused by P5 breaking away also)
people would welcome that football-only Mountain West invite, long-shot that it is.

Fair enough but it can come off as advocating for staying FCS. Every year it becomes more apparent that staying in FCS is not a preferred path. If we do end up staying, we should probably reevaluate and reallocate some of the football funding dollars to basketball because it makes very little sense to spend like we do if we don’t/can’t get as good of a ROI as we would with basketball.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
being able to see most every FBS game on my espn/fox sports/cbs sports app makes a huge difference. NDSU would be a great underdog story for the national media if we went FBS and would garner alot of new fans... serious

And I don’t intend it that way.
But I do believe the MVFC is very good and fun to watch.
I also believe a few FCS teams have improved their programs,
perhaps helped to do so by the level NDSU plays at.
And a few more are capable of it in the short term.
So I do root for FCS improvements, as the only thing I know for sure is NDSU is playing FCS football this year……
Will the rising tide lift all FCS boats?
Nope, the FCS will share that commonality with FBS where only so many teams are legitimate title contenders. But programs can be built and new contenders emerge, so teams like Cal Davis and Southern Illinois are some that I find interesting.
I do remain unconvinced there was any FBS conference willing to take NDSU since the Bison went FCS.
It’s always been a location, location, location
and a population, population, population problem.
If North Dakota had 7.6 million instead of 760,000…
then that would overcome the location location location problem.
Although times have changed with conference realignment,
I also will not be surprised that the Mountain West, despite what I think NDSU could bring to the conference with the name brand recognition and eyeballs watching - will go other direction (s) - perhaps Texas schools.
But I do dream on NDSU/SDSU Montana State/Montana joining on in with Wyoming & others……
In the meantime I like how strong the MVFC is. I also liked seeing how FCS teams did against MW teams. I didn’t even mention today Montana State almost roping the Cowboys and SDSU handling Colorado State.
-
Re: A new and better FBS thread
NDSU has been at this ELITE LEVEL since 2011
. that's the problem
135-11 8 titles 9 FBS wins. we haven't belonged in FCS for 8 years now. sorry man, these are facts

It’s great that you continue to find excitement in the FCS competition and storylines. That sentiment is dwindling year after year.

Unfortunately i and most in my circle have become bored, glad to hear some are still interested
For the Amount of money we invest. Ndsu Paying 300k to play teams like Valpo is depressing.

This. NDSU football in the FCS is a declining brand.

And no doubt the non-con helped that depression.
If NDSU can’t get a FBS game, then it’s really important to get
a top 15 top 10 FCS game and that didn’t happen this year.
Albany had some nice players, maybe even a few future NFLers,
but they weren’t that team.
Did the country dealing with covid affect the scheduling?
Were teams reluctant to travel to Fargo?
One cupcake on the schedule is normal, but 3 games that were not close……
If you had to have such an easy non-con, at least this was the fall season right after the covid spring so the players get a break.
At least next year has Arizona on the schedule.
Although Northern Arizona took some of the mystery out of that match-up.
North Carolina A & T adds a new name.
2023 is Eastern Washington @ Twin Cities, Maine and Central Arkansas.
24 is Colorado (hope they improve by then) East Tennessee and Towson

NDSU hasn't played in a BIG game since Iowa 2016 to be honest.

2019 NC was fun as hell, but when it was the 8th time winning, I doubt I would go again should they make it, been there did that 8 times, at least bowl games are scattered in different locals, switch things up a bit

Yes, the Iowa game was a really good day.
Will never forget the Iowa fans afterwards and

Too bad for Chapo - he missed some really good Bison games since Iowa.
Well, at least he has the Gophers, who provide him with everything
he needs, well, except for that pesky ban over at Gopherhole.
And the Gophers never disappoint……wait, what???

Re: A new and better FBS thread
We haven't had a lot of big games since Iowa, three of them involve JMU though who might not be around much longer. FCS football is becoming overly regional, it is slowly turning into the D2 of old. Teams keep leaving and nobody is left to fill the gaps. Our admin's priority needs to be getting us up to the FBS.
I don't really even care if regionally we fit in the FCS, our regional rivals are all basketball or hockey schools for the most part. They aren't really our peers when it comes to football.

FCS is getting bad, a DIII school was allowed to jump up, a full conference with an Autobid that isn't scholarship, we spend more on a Semi to haul gear than some teams spend on their facilities...sad
Was fun at first but now its showing, things need to change and hopefully the administration are just being totally hush and have actually been talking, which I feel a bit more confident about.
