Anyone else up watching the Open at this wee hour? If so, who do you like to win? I’m going with Jordan Spieth in this one!

Or Morikawa, either way for me.

Somebody needs to give old Darren Clarke a blood pressure pill and a little nitro. He is one of three still in it.

After narrowly avoiding disaster on Saturday, and trailing early in all 4 matches today, team USA battled back to win the session 3-1 and narrow Team Europe’s lead to a single point (1.5 really because Euros will retain with a tie) entering the second 4 ball session this afternoon.
Europe up 2 (2.5) headed into the 12 singles matches tomorrow, 9-7. Europe need 5 points to retain, USA 7.5 to win.
400 yes par 4 dead down a 20 mph wind. Bryson put his drive in the bunker pin high. Just stupid long.
417 yards on this par 5, leaving him 75 yards from the pin. A couple of illustrations of just how insane that drive was:

Heading into afternoon session USA is only 5 1/2 pts away from closing out the Ryder Cup.

Bryson’s tee ball on 5 stopped over 220 yards from where he was at yesterday.
Bryson drives the green on #1 and drops the eagle to take a 1-up lead on Sergio.
Scheffler 3-up on world #1 through 6

That was a complete arse kicking
They are bunched up in La Quinta at the Bob Hope. Hoge shares the lead.

Hoge finished 2nd at 21 under par.
I'm imagining that this is indeed the way it was at the beginning with old Tom Morris...

In truth though, it may be slightly more complicated: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_golf
Tom Hoge is currently T2 at Pebble Beach chasing another big check.
https://www.cbssports.com/golf/leaderboard/
Even more importantly he is currently projected to move up 5 spots to 7th in the FedEx Cup standings if he holds on to second place.
He finished day one in first place alone with a one stroke lead on Seamus Power and just one stroke short of the course record. Not sure what course he plays today but I hope he can keep it going. He is anchoring my team this week in my season golf pool. Woo hooo! Let's go Tom!!!
Edit: Found it. Hoge plays Spyglass today. Going off on #10 at 9:25 Pacific. That is the toughest of the courses so he is probably going to drop back a bit today. Hope not though.
Great report Greenfield! He is T1 after Moving Day! Hope you win your pool and Tom wins Pebble!

I don’t play golf (I do understand a little) we have been watching the Att pro am with interest.
Hoge is playing the game of his life.
Don’t look now but some guy named Hoge is #2 in the FedEx cup race.
#2!!!!!
Way to go Tom! First win on the PGA Tour!!
Tom just earned a full exemption on tour through the end of 2024. Not only that but guess where he’s gonna be teeing it up on April 7th…

Not bad:
But the winner takes home the standard 18% of the total $8.7 million prize pool for a cool $1.566 million. That's before certain other perks like a PGA Tour exemption through at least the end of the 2023-24 season, entrance into the Masters and the PGA Championship, and 500 valuable FedEx Cup points as well.
Yes. Tom and his family's lives just changed today in a big way. He is playing very good golf so far this year. Watch out for this guy..,.
Edit: I noticed Eide Bailly logo on Tom's shirt today. That sponsorship is gonna start gettin spendy if this keeps up...
How bout that Tom Hoge?!? Congrats on your pool as well Greenfield! Outside of a major, what a sweet and storied event to pick up his first PGA win!
As well as he is playing, there is no telling what this season will bring for Tom and his family and friends. Hear hear!!
Tom handled the win like a true North Dakotan. Humble, stoic, and in workmanlike fashion, and with a little dry humor to boot!:

So glad he finally broke through with a victory after 200 and some PGA starts. His putter got hot at the right time on the back nine. Looking forward to seeing him in the Masters this spring

One of the many articles out there on Tom Hoge today following his win yesterday at Pebble Beach

other than Spieth. what a horseshit lineup of golf stars.
I mean cmon.
