Re: University of Jamestown to the Great Plains Athletic Conference
The Lady Jimmie hockey team had their inaugural game yesterday against number 2 Midland in Fremont Nebraska. Work in progress. Lost 10-1. Midland took it to them in the second period scoring 7 goals. Jimmie women have 3 gals who aren’t freshman and the rest are. Little things that all can be corrected as the season moves along. See what happens in todays game at noon

Puck, sent you a PM
Dr. Peterson is a rock star. Enrollment is up 7% pre covid. One of the few colleges in the country with enrollment group. Offering programs that kids (and parents) like, done in 4 years and less expensive then local public schools. Absolute hidden gem. Main programs are nursing, business and accounting. Just got accredited in engineering. They have over 100 students in Fargo with the Doctorate in Physical Therapy Program. They are a net imported of young adults into the state. I can go on and on about what UJ has happening.

Jimmies get first win with OT victory over Maryville
Women's Hockey
Posted 38 minutes ago
Crystal Wale (JR/Moose Jaw, SK) scored with 12 seconds remaining in overtime as the University of Jamestown women's hockey team earned their first win and first at Wilson Arena 4-3 over Maryville University Sunday afternoon.
UJ got on the board first as Jaeda Clayton (FR/Souris, MB) took a Samantha Muller (FR/Saskatoon, SK) pass and beat Saint goalie Kaitlyn Cadrain at the 3:38 mark. It was just one of three shots on goal for the Jimmies in the opening period while Maryville had all ten of its shots turned away by Jamestown's Lilah Drew (FR/Bolton, ON).
Kelsey Amick (FR/Mitchell, S.D.) made it 2-0 for the home team at 8:48 of the second, with assists by Ashton Lee (FR/Pierre, S.D.) and Kennedy Hauser (FR/Lorette, MB). That goal chased Cadrain, who allowed two goals on six shots. Sawyer Duncan replaced Cadrain between the pipes and stopped the four shots she saw in the remainder of the period.
After the goaltender switch, the Saints responded with a pair of goals. Iliana Argiropoulos scored an unassisted goal at 9:50, then Kyla Morris tied the game at 16:39 on an assist by Sarah Brooks.
Jamestown retook the lead on Bethany Wielgosh (FR/Beausejour, MB)'s goal from Wale and Ashley Johnson (FR/Loretto, Minn.) at 3:50 of the third period. The Jimmies had successfully killed off four previous penalties, including a 51 second 5-on-3 situation late in the second period, but Maryville capitalized on their fifth chance. Morris netted her second of the game with Brooks and Paige Dawson on the assists at 6:46.
Third period shots were even at ten for each side after the Saints led 26-10 in shots after two, and the game went into overtime.
Drew made four saves in the extra session, ending with 37 for the game. The Jimmies put three shots on goal in overtime before Wale's game-winner, set up by Samantha Beaulac.
The Jimmies return to action when they host Minot State University Friday at 7 p.m.

I was under the impression that they already owned that building. They must be happy with enrollment. Last I heard they were in wait and see mode with that building.

Outstanding Pucknut! And in their first year of competition with a roster of very young players. A lot of the great teams in various sports couldn’t boast about a win like that in their first few years.

What division is UJ hockey? Their website states Division 1, but I know they don't play the UND's of the world. So Division 1 of what?
This is for the men I noticed this.
Thanks

Re: University of Jamestown to the Great Plains Athletic Conference
SIOUX CITY, Iowa — After a tight first set, the No. 2-ranked University of Jamestown pulled away in the second set and swept the No. 15-ranked College of Saint Mary (25-23, 25-13, 25-22) on Friday, Dec. 2, at the Tyson Events Center.
The first set was all about the importance of timeouts, as the Jimmies (34-2) went on a 4-0 run to take an 18-15 lead, drawing a Flames timeout. Out of the stoppage, the Flames (21-9) responded with a 4-0 run of their own to take a 19-18 lead. The teams traded runs from there with the Jimmies taking a 22-20 lead, drawing another Flames timeout. This time it appeared to work better for the Jimmies as they responded with two points in a row to put them on the edge of a first-set win at 24-21, but the Flames fought back to cut the deficit to 24-23 on a kill from Kamryn Willman, drawing a Jimmies timeout. Out of the stoppage, the Jimmies’ Lexi Olson got the kill to give the Jimmies the 25-23 first-set win.
“I think we were still trying to find our rhythm but we talked and I called a timeout at the end of set one and said the same thing,” Jimmies head coach Jon Hegerle said. “I said, ‘you guys I want you to get up and I want you to be aggressive and I want you to challenge their block and swing hard at the ball.' I thought we did a nice job of saying alright, we’re going to go after it and we played better.”
The Jimmies asserted their dominance in the second set sprinting out to an 11-3 lead. After the Jimmies pushed the lead out to 22-8, the Flames went on a 5-1 run to cut the deficit to 23-13. The Jimmies responded with a 2-0 run finished off when Kalli Hegerle tucked one down the line to give the Jimmies the 25-13 second set win.
“I think it was a good balance between fun and intensity and that’s what you could really feel on the court,” Kalli Hegerle said. “We just poured into each other and it worked out for us.”

Incredible job Pucknut! Congrats to Coach and team and all involved. Would have loved to see that contest! That sort of turnaround can be a great momentum builder!
It ain't bragging if you can do it.
Dizzy Dean
PS
Pulling off a huge upset like that shows a lot about your young team and Coach. Great adjustments made and executed, excellent game planning, hard work, great effort and a whole lot of heart against a top ranked team. As those here on BV with a few years behind them know, the players and staff will remember that one fondly for a lifetime! Well done!

UJ Jimmie Women’s hockey team swept the Minnesota Gophers this weekend and now have a 3 game winning streak going. Won Friday 5-2 and sounded like one hell of a game today. Down 6-3 in the third they scored 1 to make it 6-4 then scored 2 in the last 50 seconds to tie it then win it on a breakaway in overtime. Roll Jimmie’s!!!!
