That's fine, but that cycle can stop now!

Yep, you and KSBisonFan were right. It's hard for me to remember because it was in 1980 and 1981. Northern Michigan held NDSU scoreless in both games.

I actually really like how the defense is playing. Flying to the ball tackling well. Now part of that impression is the USD QB wasn't very accurate yesterday.
Re: USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
The one thing that stood out to me is the running backs werent running blind in to the offensive lines backside time after time. When they got the ball they looked to see what was open. If there was nothing they broke to the outside and did well in doing so.

This is a good observation and a big deal... coming into this game USD RB Phillips was averaging over 5 yards per carry after contact. I don’t know what is was in this game but I don’t recall much for missed tackles. Kudos to Coach Olson for appearing to get that tackling issues that have cropped up over the last couple seasons before this under control so far this season.

My opinion is our tackling issues were personnel related. We didn't have the speed at certain positions to get in good tackling position. I think our athleticism has improved over past years.

Didn't polasek (or maybe it was olson) address this a month ago or so in an interview? He said the fall camp was "physical" or something to that effect, insinuating that they shyed away from contact in camp in previous years and created the poor tackling issue.

I think tackling at the second and third levels looks better because the DT's are ruining the line of scrimmage. There was at least two plays were both DT's are winning and finishing the play at los. Really impressed with interior dl so far. Waiting on a bit more splash from the DE but they haven't had many opportunities yet either.
Re: USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
We were very good on 3rd down yesterday. Man sucks this is the only year of starting for Payton, but Hayes next year will be great. Reis Kessel is really impressing me. Chris Harris will be healthy soon and Collins didn't have a catch. That's scary in a good way. DL is swarming and getting great pushback. OL shaping up nicely and October is only about to start. USD isnt the team we thought but we flat out dominated. No turnovers. Bickerton had a nice boot. Penalties need to be cleaned up a bit. We are head and shoulders above everyone including SDSU and Tartleton. We are the only team that will get in our way.

They said the same thing last year and tackling was still an issue (I seem to remember it being particularly bad against ETSU). This year the results are backing up the talk though.
