Re: 2009 Recruits
Anybody see Jemison for the Bruins tonight? They lost, but I think he could be a real stud OLB wherever he ends up. I know he is looking at NDSU. The announcers said coaches looking at the Edina-FS tape said he was the best player on the field, despite a FS loss. That says a lot given the talent level of Edina and the DIA players on the team.

Re: 2009 Recruits
Jemison would be a good get for NDSU

Re: 2009 Recruits
When will we start to see some commits coming NDSU's way?

Re: 2009 Recruits
uggh....I had a nice post and somehow deleted it.
Yes, we need some verbals. The FS kid would be huge. Put him in "right color green." I would ask the kid...."Hey, do you want to play in the best conference at our level (Sorry BisonNeil...I know you disagree, but this is recruiting...you have opinions....), or do you want to play Lamar and Iona...the two teams UND has reportedly just signed. Lamar does not have a football program...but they will in 2010...you can't make this up. Iona has no scholarships....are they still talking about Valpo? Didn't think so. Best facilities, hometown, sellout crowds, playoff eligible....and PLENTY of playing time available at linebacker!!! Sign this kid up!!! I really want him.
Is it abnormal that we only have one verbal at this point in recruiting?

Re: 2009 Recruits
yeah it seems to me that last year at this time we had more verbals...but im guessin with how our team has played this season its tough for recruits to really want to jump at the oppotunity, but im guessin we'll be gettin several recruits to the SDSU game where the environment will be crazy and we'll get a few more verbals than

Northfield senior Cole Jirik acknowledged Friday after the Raiders' 31-12 victory over previously unbeaten Orono in the Class 4A state semifinals at the Metrodome that he had just played the best game of his career. The best news of all for Jirik was that he is going to be able to remember it.
By game's end, Jirik had three sacks, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, a blocked field goal, a touchdown catch and 69 receiving yards.
Jirik (6-5, 225 with a 4.6-second 40) has scholarship offers from Western Michigan and North Dakota State. One has to wonder why some bigger schools haven't come calling. Perhaps that will change after Friday.
Sullivan has heard through the grapevine that recruiters have labeled him as being "a little light."
Jirik said he hopes to hear from some other schools. Sullivan knows this: Jirik is a football player.
"He's going to help somebody's program," Sullivan said.

[QUOTE=Mr. Burgundy;229586] I would ask the kid...."Hey, do you want to play in the best conference at our level (Sorry BisonNeil...I know you disagree, but this is recruiting...you have opinions....), QUOTE]
Of course everyone is entitled to have their opinion. Unfortunately, in this case, the facts, the data, don't support that opinion. In actuality, it's not even close. So, in my case its not opinion, it is simply my accepting the facts that support two other conferences being much better than the MVFC, at least during the past 15 yrs. That could change, obviously.

Re: 2009 Recruits
I understand your point Bisonneil, but I was actually using that in a quote like you would tell a recruit. Like a Texas coach would tell a recruit he would play in the best conference in the nation. (Big 12). But, some may argue SEC....It is just selling your program. Plus, we aren't exactly recruiting against other conferences all that often. We are targeting mostly kids in the region, Chicago, Omaha, Minneapolis, Texas. It is the sales pitch I was talking about, and I think NDSU has a really good one. But, if a recruit wants to break down spreadsheets...etc, they may find that there is a comparable conference out there.

Re: 2009 Recruits
Lets try to stay on track here please..... go to the other thread listed to argue what conference is better. Burdundy was just pointing out a ploy that recruiters use.
I agree that the south kid (Jemison) would be a good get and could be molded into a nice LB similar to Humber (speed/skill)-that is who he reminds me of (of course after a couple of years in NDSU's weight program)
