Re: 2017 Recruiting Updates
All this discussion about focusing on certain states to recruit guys is an interesting one. The way I understand it is a coach/recruiter on our staff has some ties to a certain area and therefore he's sent there to get an in with the local coaches/athletes. Overall, there are athletes everywhere, and the Bison staff is going to recruit the best guys for positions of need, regardless of where they live. If a kid lives in MO that they want, they'll recruit him. If a kid lives in NE that they want, they'll recruit him. Do our chances of landing a kid go up a bit when we have a coach/recruiter that has ties to said state? Sure, probably a bit. But I don't think we just focus on kids from a state because the state they live in is called Nebraska. For every Dudzik, Emmanuel, Deluca, or Stick, you have a Heagle(WI), Jirik(MN), Beck(ND) or Jensen(WI). If they're out there, we'll find them.

Thanks you just made my point for me...Nebraska should be one of the states we recruit along with the other MIDWEST states you mentioned...if we stick with that footprint and get a few here and there from other places like Florida or Texas or what have you maybe for the skilled positions, I would be totally content with that.
I feel like we are repeating an old argument....but then again, this is Bisonville.
Re: 2017 Recruiting Updates
Any truth to the rumor Grant Schmidt is transferring to NDSU? He is from Sioux Falls, SD. Was he recruited by NDSU?

Wasn't really trying to make your point because I don't think we need to "worry about the absence of Nebraska recruits". I think the question was asked to someone on the staff about not getting anyone from that state and they said they filled needs elsewhere. If a kid from NE chooses to go to USD or SDSU there are several reasons why they may have chosen to do so. Earlier playing time, a different major, less depth to compete at in certain positions, close proximity, amount of scholarship offered, etc. I know for sure that there were probably several kids that the staff looked at, talked to, and probably even recruited, but in the end those kids chose to go elsewhere. They may have been the 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th option as well. You said it best here "I guess we will find out if my anxiety was justified in a year or two when we play them....but then again, a lot of it is about player development, something we excel at over other schools". Recruiting is a guessing game for the most part, we never know for sure how anyone will pan out with attrition, and who will stay to be champions.
If the mods want to move my posts to a more appropriate thread, go ahead. Don't mean to be mucking up the recruit update thread.

My life has been a whirlwind with my move to LA and the freelance life of being on call all the time. I have info for most the football offers and need to find a day to just pound them out.
