USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
I will forego the tradition of blessing you with the insights from my brilliant football mind and instead I will offer the greater bisonville community the opportunity to eat the crow that I promised you was coming last year.
https://practicalselfreliance.com/wp...ating-crow.jpg
You witnessed 3.5 games from Cole Payton. In this one he's like 12/15 for 200+ 2TD's and 70+ rushing for another.
He's been nothing sort of dominant.
ECE8HE and I kept tabs on who claimed he wasn't a QB. I remember who said he should be a RB. I even remember the genius who said he should be a tight end.
But I'm not going to name names and apply the shame that you've earned. Instead, this is your opportunity for absolution.
Just post in this thread "I was wrong about Cole Payton". I don't need you to admit that you're not a great football mind (you aren't). I don't need you to make excuses about how good Hayes looked last year.
Just eat your crow and we'll all move on.

Re: USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
I'd also like to offer a steak dinner to the bros who knew. The great football minds who know talent when they see it.
Cole is really the great unifier. What else could guys like me, SDBison and EC8HC agree on?
I actually wanted Cole to start last year over Cam. Controversial? Absolutely. It all worked out in the end but it was just really hard to see an all-time great riding the pine aside from the 3rd and Cole packages.
I remember I had a conversation with TAB where I told him this and TAB was like "I still think QB should be Easton Stick." and everyone knows I think Easton is the GOAT so I didn't really argue until I realized that TAB was serious. I had to explain to him (in very simple terms) how eligibility works. TAB then asked if he could just change his name to Weston Branch and get 4 more years. Jury is still out on this one, but we're investigating.
Anyway, even TAB knew.
So what's your excuse?

Anybody else think that Todd Bouman could out-quarterback his kid Aidan Bouman today? Probably, even if Todd Bouman is now fifty-three years old.

Re: USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
Honestly confused how he can go from a solid high leave FCS QB to whatever he has been this year. Oline is only so much of the story.

I remember when Bouman could pick apart secondaries.
He’s barely better than Mark “Horns Down” Gronklewsky out there.

Re: USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
I'll admit Cole Walter Calves Payton is better then I thought he'd be and will eat my crow. Don't like the fact the starters are still playing up 44-3. Get the backups some reps FFS!

Re: USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
Leaving your starting qb in the game down 45 late in the game is…well…interresting.

Re: USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
Indy - you may have to explain that one…

Light up the Heisman campaign.

Re: USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
Kev's right though. Cole's not just putting up numbers against garbage teams, although they may well indeed be garbage. But he is calm in the pocket, looking down field, creating his own opportunities, AND when he does throw on time, he is dropping dimes down field. Full range of NFL throws.
How they got him to ride the bench for 4 entire years just may be the most impressive thing NDSU has accomplished. Cole is a monster. And you can tell they are holding back with him in the run game up to this point. Once they uncork that genie... Look the fuck out.

He should've left in the portal with the rest of the team

I bet they will have a discussion about that hurdle. If I landed on my back like that from, what, four feet up? I would have to be wheeled out of the place.

Four feet? Bro you’re a hard sneeze away from the ICU.

Re: USD Post Game Thoughts & Crow Dinner
While I don’t think I was in the not a QB camp, but I admit to being very hesitant about his ability to throw the ball. I am very happy the way it turned out

I did also think that an unnecessary risk to take. At that moment of the game it was all risk for almost no reward. Shows the kid is a quiet baller though. Pretty low key but between the whistles he got that dawg in 'em. Just maybe learn from that in the film room and next time assess the situation better.
Going into this year I thought Cole for sure would get drafted but probably as an athlete. Four games into this season... now I think he's got a shot at a QB draft spot.

When Hedberg said he could definitely throw the ball, that was good enough for me.

Sorry, there was a really weird call after the 2:00 minute timeout having something to do with a USD player’s helmet coming off…?
You would have to watch the replay because I don’t have any idea what the guy said…

Yeah, there was like 29 seconds left and they put 45 seconds on the clock, then a 10 second runoff, so 35 seconds. I don't think anyone there understood when the ref explained it?

I think the cheerleaders are star struck / in love with Trey Lance’s brother. Watching the game on replay seeing this after his first catch made me chuckle.
