Summit League Indoor Championships (2019)
The Men's and Women's Track & Field teams are in Brookings today and tomorrow competing in the 2019 Summit League Indoor Track & Field Championships.
The Bison men will try to win their 4th consecutive indoor title, while the women's team goes for a staggering 12th title in a row.
It's no surprise that both the NDSU men's and women's throwers dominate the Summit's top performers lists going into to the meet.
WOMEN'S TEAM
Bison standout Maddy Nilles is the favorite in the Women's WEIGHT THROW. 4 of the top 6 seeds are Bison.
NDSU Senior, Baily Retzlaff, is the league leader in the SHOT PUT. 7 of the top 8 seeds going in to Saturday's SP competition are Herdsters.
MEN'S TEAM
Bison Superman, Payton Otterdahl is likely to win both the Men's WEIGHT THROW & SHOT PUT. He is the pre-Championships leader in both events by a wide margin. His throws of 78' 11 1/4" in the WEIGHT THROW and 71' 0" in the SHOT PUT are tops in ALL of NCAA performances nationwide this season.
In the WEIGHT THROW, NDSU owns 4 of the top 5 seeds.
In the SHOT PUT, 5 of the season's top 7 Summit League marks belong to the Bison.
Re: Summit League Indoor Championships (2019)
Bison Junior, Ben Klimpke leads the Men's Heptathlon after the first day of competition (through 4 events) with 2,917 points.
Ryan Enerson is in 3rd place and Tyler Enerson is 4th.
Re: Summit League Indoor Championships (2019)
Bison Junior, Macy Denzer wins the Women's Pentathlon with 3,695 points.
Re: Summit League Indoor Championships (2019)
Bison women go 3, 4, 5, & 6 in the WT.
I'm sure Maddy is disappointed. 13 inches less than her PR today (today: 70' 3 1/4") 3rd place for her.
USD's Lara Boman launched a big one on her 3rd attempt for the win. (72' 6 1/2")
Men's WT begins warming up in a few minutes.

Anyone else out there following this?
Great chance to see Otterdahl perform in an event that he leads the entire country in......without having to go to Brookings!
Re: Summit League Indoor Championships (2019)
Oh great...…...now the camera has shifted so as to cover the pole vault.....Hopefully, they will switch back to the WT soon.

Man, they're still showing the pole vault.
On the flip side, Payton Otterdahl just lobbed the weighty throwy thing 23.72 meters (around 77-10.) That's a Summit League record by 3.7 meters, I think.
Re: Summit League Indoor Championships (2019)
Payton passed on his allotment of 3 throws in the finals.
He won the event easily. His mark of 23.72 (77' 9 3/4") in the prelims was enough.
Talley: 3rd.
Trevor Otterdahl: 4th.
Michael Keogan: 5th.
Re: Summit League Indoor Championships (2019)
USD's Chris Nilsen just cleared 18' 10 1/2" in the POLE VAULT. Broke his own records for both the conference meet and the facility.
3rd best in the nation. Not sure if he's going to keep going....today.
Top vault in the country thus far is 19' 3".
EDIT: He's trying for 19' 2"....missed on his first attempt.
Re: Summit League Indoor Championships (2019)
Bison Sophomore and Bismarck Legacy HS grad....Brandon Lewis gets a big PR in the LONG JUMP taking 2nd place with a mark of 24' 2 1/2".
Jumps right into the All-Time NDSU Indoor Top 10 List.....NUMBER 7.
