I’ve got a lot of in-laws that are big UND fans and excited about the upcoming season. Of course, it is all in good fun, we started trash talking. The tired mantra of “we have the nickel” is a favorite of the group that I am law bound to consider my family, the more grounded of this group concede that NDSU is where the want UND to aspire to reach and would “probably” win a match up head to head this season. Thanks for that huge concession. Personally, I thought that my cousin’s head was going to explode when his father stated as much.

I started to think about what circumstances would have to occur for me to state that I thought UND would have a chance of winning against NDSU. I’m not talking about a game where UND wins the turnover battle by 4 and comes out with a 3 point win. I mean a game where NDSU plays well and loses. Although this blog just for throwing some smack toward my inlaws, the more I looked, I realized that NDSU has some guys in the wings who would be starting on a TON of FCS teams. When the Junior class departs, it appears NDSU will be in the position to reload. On with the smack talk. I promise I will allow NDSU to use both hands...even Colten Heagle.

What I propose for this game is to bench every senior. OK, we have a small senior class so that isn’t enough. Also benched for this game are juniors that were starters who did not have their red shirts pulled. So, current juniors who were back-ups would be available and JC transfers. I’ll also sit Cole Jirik because he started games last season as is too good for the UND O Line.

Tight Ends - Lee, Vaadeland or Nelson, Albers, JC Kampsen
Wide receivers – Smith, Wahlo, Gebhart, Vraa, Okland, Moody
Running backs - Lang, Jones, Dinwiddie, Crockett.
Quarterbacks – Thorton and Wentz
D Line – Emanuel, JC Gordon, Hardie, Talmadge, Enyi, Juckem, Luecke, Schaetz,
Linebackers – Littlejohn, Olson, Beck, Dinwiddie, Gefroh, Scoliere, JC Rogers
D Backs – Dudzik, Shepherd, Heagle, Colvin, Champion, Smith, Pierre (sat out), Van Voorhis
