I saw that on GooferHole. The guy immediately ranks an FCS team as a 120. Should have used the Sagarin ratings, IMO.

Well, there are no Sagarin ratings for this coming season. If you use the Sagain ratings for last season, the order is

Michigan ND (21) Oregon (35) EMU (146) App. St (53)
Iowa W.Mich (69) N.Ill (85) Syracuse (66) Iowa State (90)
MSU ND (21) Pitt (45) UAB (117) Bowling Green (139)
Purdue NS (21) CMU (56) Toledo (112) (E. Ill 129)
Ohio State Washington (50), Kent State (119) Akron (105) YSU (71)
Illinois Missouri (42) Syracuse (66) Ball State (98) W.Ill (156)
Wisconsin Washington State (37) N.Ill (85) UNLV (128) Citadel (158)
Minnesota FAU (130) Bowling Green (139) Miami OH (133) NDSU (57)
NW Nevada (58) EMU (146) Duke (153) Northeastern (125)
Indiana WMU (69) Ball State (98) Akron (105) Indiana State (211)
Penn State ND (21) Buffalo (150) Temple (165) FIU (179)

Of course, that's last year's ratings, but that's all we have solid. Things will change, but preseason rankings are fun, but not really worth anything.

espn is ranking the 119 teams in division I-A football. they ranked ball state at 108 partially because of their loss to us last year. i posted the link to the article.

Are you calling Minnesota's game against NDSU a cupcake game?

If Minnesota was a premiere Big Ten team it would be a cupcake game.
Instead, it is a game Minnesota has a good chance of losing this year. Would that be a good thing or a bad thing for a guy like you Rodentia? Which hat will you wear on October 20?

I will be wearing my Gophers hat, I've never made any pretense otherwise. When NDSU is not playing Minnesota, I root for NDSU.

The #11 rating for the schedule is only valid (or at least as valid as it can be for a pre-season ratings) if you assume that NDSU is #120, beneath all 119 FBS teams. I think that is an invalid assumption, I do think NDSU will be considerably better than #120.
