Billy Donovan will be named the head coach of the Orlando Magic on Friday, several sources have told ESPN.
The announcement is scheduled to be made at 11 a.m. ET, sources told ESPN.com's Pat Forde.

The contract is for five years and with a value of $27.5 million.

Good luck Billy .The recent sucess of college coaches in the NBA has not been to good. But for the dough he is getting ....

where do NBA coaches mostly come from?

they usually become assistants prior to making the jump.

Donnovan is not in any way bound by the failures of his college to NBA predecessors. He made the jump and he may very well be successful. If he's not he'll have millions to help make his failure easier.

Does this give us a better chance against the Gators next year?

It probably does, but not enough to not want him there. The players all left, but Billy was there making the game a very "sexy" opportunity, but now theres nothing left - NO players and NO coach.

I think the Gators will be fine. They will want to continue what Billy has achieved.

They still have back to back National Championships. Will they "reload" or "fold"?

ESPN is reporting that Donovan is asking to get out of his Orlando Magic contract or is at least seriously considering it.. He wants to go back to Florida. Maybe we will see him up here after all.

Sounds like a similiar situation to what Aaron Johnston had here when he was looking to go to Wisconsin-Green Bay earlier this spring. Sounds like a lot of coaches are having second chances this spring.

Your sources huh? Everyone and their dog knows he's going back. AT this point it is details, such as he cannot coach any other NBA team for 5 years. They do to a certain extent have him over the rail because he signed the contract. ;)
