I found this little tidbit in the latest Bison Briefs:

"incoming students at NDSU in fall 2006 had a 3.33 grade point average in high school and a 22.87 ACT composite score"

The fact that NDSU is attracting successful high school students would lead me to believe that these students will also be successful in college and be successful in life after they leave NDSU. This will reflect positively on the reputation of the university for years down the road. Congratulations to those at NDSU responsible for recruiting students!

Any indication how those numbers compare to prior freshman classes?

It seems to me that NDSU has always been around 23 on the ACT and 3.33 in the GPA.

As an aside, sometimes it's tempting to talk about raising enrollment standards but I've never been convinced that serves any purpose other than to impress college guides - I don't think it improves the university or the quality of the education students earn. Anyway, given the missions of North Dakota's public universities, the only proper way to raise the average ACT is to raise the average ACT for North Dakota's graduating HS seniors.

I really hate to post this, but apparently the ACT scores are sliding a bit.

2001: 23.4
2002: 23.2
2003: 23.0
2004: 23.0
2005: 23.0
2006: 22.9
