The season kicks off on Saturday with the Bison Open. *With Stanford and the Gophers present there should be some great wrestling to watch. *Hopefully there is a crowd in the center to watch this event.

Bison to watch will be Eric Hoffman at 125, Eric Sanders at 133, Ryan Adams at 141, Gabe Mooney at 141, Dave Albrecht at 141, Vince Salminen at 149, Jacob Bryce at 197 and Matt Wetterling at 184. Hoffman, Mooney and Wetterling have outside shots at becoming All-Americans this season. 125 should be an especially tough weight class at the Bison Open this year with Hoffman, Lang from Minnesota, Ness from Minnesota, and an all-american from Stanford all wrestling. Will be interesting to see what Bison places the highest at 141.

Not knowing anything about wrestling, at an "Open" everybody can wrestle within a weight class?

If I understand your question, at an open, individuals can wrestle, even red-shirts, or alumni. If I remember correctly. They still must wrestle in their respective weight class.

I think the team looked pretty good at both the Bison and the Kaufman/Brand Open. I really like the true freshman Salimen, he is a real quality wrestler. Ryan Adams has lost the first round of both tournament and come all the way back and placed third in both. That isn't easy to do once let alone two weeks in a row.
