Congratulations to the Bison Men and Women for bringing home the NCC championships once again. This makes three straight for the men, and 20 in the last 24 years. The men also set an NCAA record of 306.5 points. *The women brought home their fifth straight NCC title, and broke two records (one NCC and one BSA).

Holy cow!

The Bison went 1,2,4 in the 100m
The Bison went 1,2,3,4 in the 200m
The Bison went 1,2,3,4 in the 400m

Burrell and Johnson went 1-2 in the 100 and 200.
Essler won the 400. If Johnson had run it the Bison, NDSU would almost certainly have taken 1-5 in the 400m.

Just wish that NDSU would get some decent weather to run in.

The women's team is doing very well as usual. Funny how the guys, even though they dominated the NCC meet, probably won't do as well as the gals at the national meet.

tony,

It only got up to about 50 degrees today with a fairly constant drizzle most of the day. The highlights on the news was a little funny. All the Bison athletes were in their normal shorts, but a lot of other teams wore tights. Bad weather, but a track lover's delight with the NCC, NSIC, and MIAC?(Concordia's conference) championships all in Fargo-Moorhead this weekend.

Looks like NDSU is pretty well represented.

Did anybody else see that Burrell ran the 100 in 10.4. That is scary fast. Does anybody know Johnson's fastest time in the 100 this year?

10.53 at the NCC champioships. It might not count because of the wind though.

I noticed Burrell's time was way faster than anything he'd run before, but wind-aided or not, that is pretty fast. If these guys can catch the ball, it should be pretty scary for NCC d-backs next fall.

These are the fastest Bison times before the NCC championship courtesy NDSU's official site:

Top 2003 Outdoor Performances
100-Meter Dash
Allen Burrell, 10.45, Ron Masanz Invite (prelims)
Allen Burrell, 10.57, Ron Masanz Invite
Allen Burrell, 10.59, Hurricane Invitational
200-Meter Dash
Allen Burrell, 21.39, Cobber Twilight
Luke Mosey, 21.43, Ron Masanz Invite
Marques Johnson, 21.44, Ron Masanz Invite

Is Burrell really faster than Johnson, or is Johnson's hamstring still bothering him? Johnson's times were faster earlier in the season, but Burrell has been faster lately. If Johnson and Burrell line up on the field at the same time, the safeties better play 30 yards off the ball.

Could be like the old days Jeff Bentrim to Stacy Robinson. Only twice as nice.

Not like Brett Favre, but don't you remember those high lofty passes that looked like punts. Stacy would come from who nows where and run under it for the catch.
