NDSU top 8 finishes had they entered
- 7 titles

100m 1
200m 1,2,6
400m 2,3,5
800m 1,5,6
1500m 4
5000m 8
10k 6
110h 5
400h 4,6
4x1 1st
4x4 3
Decathlon 1,2,8
Hammer 7
Shot Put 1,8
Steeplechase 2
High Jump 2,6
Long Jump 7
Triple Jump 1
Pole Vault 2, 5

Winds were very similar at both locations. *Those totals give NDSU 179 points. *Weber scored 182, but that total would be smaller if NDSU had entered (ex Weber won 1st and 2nd in the 200m w/o NDSU, but would have got 3rd and 4th had NDSU been there- a difference of 5 points by itself)

and the Mid-Con too

400 2,4,5
800 2,3,4
1500, 2, 7
5000 1
10k 1
3000 steeplechase 1,2
110h 1,3,4
400 1,2,4
4x1 1
4x4 1
Pole Vault 1,2
Triple Jump 2,4,7
Discus 4,6,8
Javelin 3,4,5
Hammer 6
High Jump 1,4
Long Jump 1
Shot Put 7
Decathlon 1,2,5

NDSU would have scored 276, Southern Utah won the meet with 270. Again their total would have been much lower had NDSU been there, especially considering that NDSU would have won 13 titles.

Evidence track will not be a "casualty" of the move

Pole Vault 3,4

A total of 187 points scored by NDSU, w/o NDSU Wichita State scored 150, it would not have been close

I ran track for UNC and can personally attest to NDSU's dominance.

just out of curiousity and since you all are so good at research, how would NDSU do at the D-I National meet?

I have a feeling it would be top 20.

We will have to wait for the national meets- DII is this weekend, DI is a couple of weeks- I will do the math then

NDSU male athletes who would automatically have qualified for the NCAA Regional Meet (apparently there is no longer automatic qualifying standards to the DI meet (except for the Dec/Heptathlon and 10K), there is a regional meet from which one can automatically qualify and the NCAA also selects at-large competitors)

Burrell-100,200
Johnson 200,400
Moen 1500
Schmidt, Stuart- 400H
Perleberg-steeplechase

400 relay team
Steckler- Pole Vault
Aakre- Triple Jump

Schmidt, Aakre would have provisionally qualified for the DI nationals in the decathlon

Others could have also been selected for the regionals at large- looks like a DI track team to me :)

They also won the east-west classic track meet held in Bismarck by a land slide. I will figure out what the scores would have been and get back to you.

For Somebison:

NDSU win the BSC in track? Well, NDSU has a good team, no doubt. But your scorecard had NDSU 1st and 8th in the shot put. How do you figure? NDSU had a 48' best put at conference, which wouldn't place 8th.
I hope that NDSU joins the BSC. :)

I had never looked at those before but, holy cow, the Big Sky must have some pretty good long jumpers - not to mention some pretty stellar 4x400 meter relay teams.

you got me- NDSU didn't place first or 8th in the shot upon further examination (I just rechecked all the performances)

this brings NDSU down to 168

Weber started with 182
they would lose 2 pts in the 100 with NDSU in the meet
7 pts in the 200
3 pts in the 400
6pts in the 800
1 pt in the 1500
2pts in 10K
1pt in 4X1
2pts in Decathlon
1 pts in Steeple
4pts in High Jump
1 pt in triple
1 pt in Pole Vault
=31 pts 182-31 =151 vs NDSU's 168 points

would have been tight but NDSU still would have won

there goes 45 minutes out of my work day ;D

I appreciate your interest. *It's nice to see chat about track. *NDSU will be a great asset to the BSC. The conference meets were a bit different in format. NDSU's decathletes competed the week before so that they could compete rested in other championship events. They scored a lot of points this way. In the BSC the decathlon ends the day before the other events begin. :P
