I finally heard that NDSU signed Halley Odegaard from Kindred. In high school, she high jumped over 5'9. To put that in perspective, 5'9.75 won the DII national title this year.

NDSU also signed Nora Narloch from Grand Forks Red River and all she has done is win state titles in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200.

According the Forum, the gals NDSU has signed already have 14 state titles between them with their senior year yet to come!

HOLY COW!

No question that the Bison should be able to immediately compete in D-I track. Not necessarily win any team trophies, mind you, but definitely compete.

We've had DI athletes in the individual sports for a long time.

The Bison have gotten the cream of the crop for years in track. They were an elite D2 program. I don't think there will be any problem establishing themselves as a highly regarded team in D1 either.

What an outstanding recruiting class this year.

State Titles:

Halley Odegaard - High Jump*, Triple Jump
Nora Narloch - 800, 1600, 3200
McKensie Mehlisch - 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, long jump

PLUS

Heather Zander** - 100*, 200, 100 hurdles

* Holds state record
** She's from Mandan!

The first three girls had 14 state titles between them. With Heather, that number goes up to at least 19.

Heather Zander won the 100 hurdles twice?

I have relatives named Zander in Mandan- no Heathers, though.
