Kind of thought that 'SUs mens team would have a tough time this year - think of all the speed they lost (Essler, Burnell, Johnson, etc). The women though - holy cow!

Gotta like Alicia Mindermann-Bement setting two personal bests and winning two events in her last meet as a Bison. Future looks pretty bright for women's track seeing as how the youngsters dominated.

On the men's side - some really fantastic times and a lot of personal bests... too bad Greeley wasn't a little closer to sea level, maybe the distance runners could have pushed their PBs a bit - although they sure did what they had to (including Palmquist running the 800 and 1500 an hour apart - ouch). I think Hendricks cut .2 of his best 100 time which is pretty dang impressive.

Impressive 4x100 womens... all freshman? Can't wait til they add Whitney Carlson from Carrington. Another high school phenom like Zander.

Technically, Whitney is from Windsor, ND. She goes to school at Pingree-Buchanan, which co-ops track with Carrington. We've been very fortunate to have her come here and give us 40 points at the state meet each year. She has a very bright future for the Bison. Last week, her long jump (19' something) would have won the boys division at a meet.

It's kind of cool looking at the best performances in the state this year and seeing NDSU recruits, Carlson and Bruins, with the best times in state so far for 6 of the 8 running events - and, oh yeah, the longest of the long jumps too. Just looking at that Class B list, it looks like there is plenty of talent out there.

Bison Track and Field teams have been reloading with North Dakota kids for years. Somewhat amazing considering our climate and sparse population.
