...will be Weston Leutz from Bismarck. *I don't think that he has given a verbal or anything, so Lars still has to work his magic. *This kid is faster than his dad was and he probably will have a better coaching staff than he had since Stevie Keller is a genius when it comes to the multis.

Check out the 2006 DI National Champ performance in the Multi:

* Jake Arnold- Arizona
100- 11.34 * *
LJ- * 6.94m *
SP- *47-04.25 *
HJ- *6-04.75 * *
400- 48.72 *
110- 14.59 *
DT- 128-02
PV- 16-04.75 *
JT- 195-06 *
1500- 4:35.50
Total= 7870

Leutz goes 10.65, 13.91 (110), 14-0 (PV), 6-06. *I am sure that he could long jump 23 feet and with NDSU being a traditional power in the throws, he will improve in the jav, shot, and discus as did Aakre, Schultz, McGlynn, and Beachy. *Sure, there are question marks, like how will he adapt to the higher hurdles, and can he improve in the 1500 (he has only ran a 5:20).

It is worth noting that Aakre with his 7641 performance would have taken 3rd this year at DI Nations.

GO GET HIM, LARS!!!!!!!

Be kind of cool if we got one before then - wrestling maybe? Plus, football season comes before track.

I wonder what kind of hops Bowers from Kenmare has? I think he could crack 4:30 right now in the 1500.

Bowers actually has ran 4:38 for 1600 meters, which means he would around 4:20 for 1500. My concern with him is that he has never hurdled or pole vaulted before. For these reasons he would probably not make a great decath candidate. I think that his bread and butter is the 400.

Bowers broke former Bison standout Jerry Boschee's 20 year old record in the 400 with a time of 48.16 I believe. Watching him run was a treat, He is raw! There is a lot of room for improvement in his running form which should lead to faster times. Leutz consistantly ran around 14 flat in the highs with a best of 13.92. That puts him up there with the best high schoolers in the nation in that event! Luetz has the potential to be an Olympic caliber decathalete. both will be seniors next year and have big time D1 potential. Lars will reel them in.
