From Hartman's Wednesday column notes-

Blake Bowers is an outstanding all-around athlete from the town of Sherwood, N.D., (population 50), who won the state titles in the 200-, 400- and 800-meter runs the past season and has shown some interest in enrolling at Minnesota. And the word from Bismarck, N.D., is that Weston Leutz, the decathlon champion at the Great Southwest Track & Field Classic, is looking at Nebraska, Minnesota and North Dakota State

50? Heck, Sherwood's a lot bigger'n that. Here's proof that there are more like 250 living, breathing souls in Sherwood.
And that don't even count the dawgs n' cats. ;)

Sherwood Wildcats . . . Former coaching stop for one Rocky Hager, with a state 9-man title in 1981 or 2 I believe. *A few names on that team included Billy Stanley and Bobby Brown QB, Loren Mehaus. That was a few years ago.

Rocko did not win any titles but helped establish the foundation that allowed Garrett (Mugsy) Titus, a former Mohall YellowJacket standout, to lead Sherwood to, I believe, one state title.

DO YOU THINK Sid is losing it?

Sid lost it a long time ago but I still like to listen to him. The football game in October will give us a read on his clairvoyance. I believe he predicted 100-0. >:(

I talked to a track expert the other day. He said Weston Luetz is the best track recruit he has saw in the 25 plus years of North Dakota high school track, Being recruited by all the big schools. But I believe with Coach Don Larson we have a SHOT TO LAND HIM. As he coached his dad Tom in the 80s>

Actually Bowers runs for a team that is comprised of a co-op program including students from Mohall, Sherwood, Lansford, and possibly the old districts of Tolley and Antler as well. Mohall was a coaching stop for Bill Kiefer an old friend of Rocky Hager.
