Somebody ought to be talking about this game!

Described by announcers as very physical.

NDSU got out to a quick start. Got up by six, then 7, then 8 right away.

SDSU seemed a bit rattled.

Now the game is getting kind of wild. Teams trading baskets.

7:51 left in the first half: NDSU 22, SDSU 14

Announcers say Bison have not seen this kind of pressure this year--including Cincy. Bison have 14 fouls. Jacks 8.

Tied at 29-29. 2 min. to play in half.

Thank you, Road Warrior. I've been following the board since Aug. But I couldn't stand seeing this important game go by without comment.

Halftime. NDSU 34-SDSU 31.

Sounds like the crowd is really into the game.

Sure would be good to win this one. To keep the string going, but also 'cause SDSU is the one to play (and beat) the D1 competition. It would be good for the teams confidence and rep.

If it wasnt for the snow we got yesterday, I would have been there to see it. The report this morning was the roads in western MN were in poor driving condition.

I said it in another thread but I'll say here as well. Maybe this will shut the rabbit fans up about our so called easy schedule. There have been a lot of teams on our schedule that could beat many of those D-I teams that they played.

Ditto on the recognition to 89rabbit for having the guts to come the board and compliment the bison women even though SDSU lost. Hope to hear from more of the usual rabbit posters on this board (where is JackMD)? Looks like the projected sweep of the bison in all sports did not occur event though the major ones (FB & BB) have all been played at home for SDSU. Congrats Bison.......I will save the gloating and rude remarks for the smack thread. ;D

I never have been much of a Women's BB fan, but I just circled a date on my calendar to go see the Bison take on the Horned Frogs on the 22nd. *Crossing my fingers that the Bison enter that game 24-0!

Congrats to the women!

Congrats on the nice win for the Bison women.
I was at the game and it was very ugly on both sides. Refs would call tick tack fouls for five straight minutes and then let the players maul each other for a while. Much more physical game than the men last weekend.

Can't wait to come up to Fargo on the 26th.

Long night in the ICU, missed the entire game. Sounds like the Bison just outrebounded the Jacks. Both teams shot under 40% and turned the ball over almost 20 times. Both shot well at the line. It came down to rebounding and I suspect that means the Bison just wanted this one more. Nice win. Hoping for a repeat of last years road win in Fargo.

NoDakSt
01-23-2005, 04:08 PM
Stong effort by the Bison....I was surprised at the rebounding differential. *SDSU has some big post players and for NDSU to claim 21 offensive boards...Amazing. *

I don't know if this is the strongest starting five that Amy has ever had but it is definitely the deepest team. *Especially in the post...it's nice to know that when we have one 6'4" player go to the bench that we can put another one in the game and not lose anything. *The same thing with swapping Lacey and Dani..both "PF" are three point threats as well as threats in the paint.

I think a lot of Division I coaches would love to have Katie Lorenz in their starting lineup. *

I was there.

That may be the most impressive NDSU women's team I've seen. NoDakSt is correct on his comment about the depth of the team. There seemed to be no change in the team play when substitutions were made.

Another poster commented about the refs...I agree that at times the fouled called were hard to believe and a few minutes later, the refs put on blinders. BUT, in my opinion, the calling was not one-sided. (I will add that Coach Ruley started right away chewing on the leg of any ref who got within 10 feet of the sideline, but, that's part of the game too. She's good at working the refs.)

NDSU was on top of its game and they deserved to win. SDSU did not play as well as they can last night....we were also missing starter Brooke D with a broken toe and that took away a lot of three-point shots.

Last night's game made it clear that NDSU would be doing just fine with a mostly-D 1 schedule. Somehow one would have to factor in the risk of being a little beat up and tired with a heavier D 1 schedule. I think the Jack women showed a little wear from some recent tough games.

Let the talk start about the rematch! I'm taking the Lady Jacks. You'll be impressed when you see them in Fargo. I hope you get even more fans than we had at Frost. That'll give us a goal to have an even larger crowd next year.
