Welcome spaceraider...

I'm excited to follow the Bison-Blue Raider matchup. Two years ago, I watched the Lady Raiders drill UNC in the NCAAs and last year they took out NC State. They have a solid team and the Bison are going to have to play there best (like they did in downing Georgetown) to stay in this game.

Well, I'm not sure we're as good as we have been the last two season. We lost our top player, point guard Patrice Holmes, to graduation and our head coach to Alabama. We have a new coach, a new offense and are trying get everyone on the same page.

Our top players are forwards Tia Stovall, Krystle Horton, and guard Chrissy Givens. Givens is the leader, our top defensive player, and somewhat surprising this year the leading scorer.

The Lady Raiders are young and inexperienced at the point, though I like both our young players at that position.

What I expect you will see is a very agressive defense and a team that plays hard.

We just lost to nationally ranked Georgia on our home floor. Very disappointing. I thought it would be a much closer game than it was.

Here are some highlights (there weren't many) from that game:

If you guys do not stream your own game audio over the internet, those of you interested in listening to the game can listen to the MT broadcast at goblueraiders.com.

A little on MT: the university is located just southeast of Nashville in the middle of the state. Enrollment is about 22K and has the largest undergraduate enrollment in the state. UT-knoxville just edges out MT with a larger graduate school enrollment. Top degree programs are aerospace, business, mass communications/recording industry management, and education.

Hope it's a good game by both teams and free from injuries.

Good luck.

Spaceraider, you said your coach left for Alabama. We have them on the schedule for a game in Fargo on Dec 20th.

Stephany Smith is a good coach, but she took over a fairly weak Tide team. Even as bad as they were last year, they managed to beat us in the regular season last year. $ec plays the best women's basketball and attracts the best talent.

Smith likes to run a fairly sophisticated offense and needs good players to run it, so it may be a few years before she's ready to challenge the top $ec teams for a championship.

Last year SDSU beat both Alabama and Middle Tennesee State on the road......but that was last year.

We look forward to doing the same at home beginning tonight with Middle Tenn State. I think the Jacks are even better than last year.

Perhaps, but the Lady Raiders are a very tough team this year.
We are glad to get out of S. Dakota with a win tonight. ;D

Forum article on today's game, the difficulty of scheduling when "independent" and the quality of opposition that the Bison seek to bring into the BSA.
