Halftime: Arkansas State 32, NDSU 21
Bison are playing like crap...lots of turnovers and poor shooting. Arkansas State doesn't sound very good.

The Abraham girl from Moorhead was big for ASU in the second half.

The women really struggle on the road...27% from the field....that's hideous.

The talent and athleticism on this team is very below average compared to past Bison teams. I hope women's Bball isn't going down the same path as the volleyball team.

"The talent and athleticism on this team is very below average compared to past Bison teams. I hope women's Bball isn't going down the same path as the volleyball team. "

I've not seen them play so I can't verify this.

I do have a couple of questions:

What do you mean by athletic? Are you speaking of general abilities such as speed, leaping ability, body control or are you talking about skills specific to basketball such as ball handling, boxing out, shooting?

My other question is whether the judgement statment above is made with respect to the level of opposition.

The Bison have always had tall teams. They also had a good set of skills. They may not have been the most athletic on the floor in terms of speed, leaping ability, etc. but they didn't need to be at the Division II level.

I guess I am curious to get feedback on whether the talent level is lower than past teams or its relatively the same as past teams but we're not playing the same level of opponents.

NCAA allows DI women's bball 15 scholarships. NDSU intends to use all 15. This team only has 11 scholarship players (1 of which is out for season), and 1 walk-on. I think this will get fixed for next year, but it seems like last year's recruiting season was so subpar. You can't afford that when building a DI program. And you can't recruit the same players anymore (see the men's team).

Current team lacks an inside game presence, has limited ballhandlers (i.e. too many turnovers), and doesn't shoot well consistently. The level of competition has increased somewhat, but it is more of an "us" problem than a "them" problem.
