Hannah Draxten, a 6’0” junior guard at Fergus Falls High School, has verbally committed to play basketball for the University of Iowa of the Big Ten. She had also received scholarship offers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Drake, and North Dakota State.

A varsity starter since eighth grade, Hannah has already passed the 1,000 point mark and is the all-time leading scorer in Fergus Falls girls basketball history with 1,298 points. Her team went 22-5 in 2005-06, finishing as Section 8AAA runners-up. As a sophomore, Hannah averaged 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists per game. She was named Class AAA first Team All-State by both the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association and the Minnesota Basketball News and also first team All-Area by the Fargo Forum. Draxten was also named All Conference and is a team captain. This past summer, she was a member of the 53-5 North Tartan AAU team.

Good get for Iowa and a good move for Draxten. Iowa is becoming an upper eschelon Big 10 team. Bluder has some good talent coming in.

I don't believe NDSU was ever seriously considered by Hannah. She is as good as there has been around here for a long time. Whalen like, maybe better as a high school player.
