Here's a video link to one of Whitney's Games. She was a 5'11 F in high school but will probably be a wing in college.

Trecker to Sign today.

NDSU women to gain recruit (http://www.in-forum.com/Sports/articles/162344)

North Dakota State will enter next women’s basketball season with a freshman class of four. Whitney Trecker, a 5-foot-10 forward from New Prague, Minn., will sign a letter of intent today, the first day of the NCAA’s spring signing period.

Trecker also visited the University of Missouri, Marquette and Drake University (Iowa). She said she did not sign during last fall’s early signing period because she wanted to keep her options open.

“I was looking at all four of them but NDSU stood out,” Trecker said.

Trecker is a wing-type player who can score. She averaged 20.7 points, including a high of 40 against rival Holy Angels Academy. She scored in double figures in every game this season and had seven games of 30 points or more. She led the Missota League in scoring.

Marquette and Missouri...now that's who I want to se us competing against for recruits as opposed to USD, Crookston, etc.

NDSU may have had a little luck in recruiting Whitney. Trecker was listed as a 2008 graduate so a lot of schools weren't looking at her for that reason. NDSU was on her from early on and new about this.

Amy likes the depth on next year's squad. She likes the opportunity to redshirt players and bring them along slowly and she feels she has that luxury next season. She also has mentioned she is recruiting basketball players with speed. Both Trecker and Plucker are state competitors in the 400 dash.

Which one of the freshmen will play next year?

The team is pretty deep....I don't know if the frosh will have to play. But, if the sceanrio arises, I think Amy has said that she would like Wilka to bulk up some and with the depth at the post, I doubt Kallemeyn sees much time. Both Plucker and Trecker are fast players who bring some size to the backcourt..I would think that one of them might get playing time.

I think Bison fans are going to be amazed when they see this group come in. While Kallemeyn will probably redshirt, the other three could see alot of playing time. If they don't, the returning starters will have improved quite a bit from last year. But let's face it. That was an average team last year. Samuelson will be an up grade but if they are going to take it to the next level(20+ wins), one or two of these freshmen will be starting by mid-season.
