BISMARCK -- The Senate on Tuesday narrowly rejected a plan that would have created more fairness in state funding for North Dakota State University and two other state colleges.

Sen. Tim Flakoll, R-Fargo, who explained the bill to the Senate, said afterward that opponents rejected the bill based on perceived harm to colleges in their districts.

Yeah, not surprisingly every legislator from Grand Forks voted against the bill.

This was a major issue at our Jan. Alumni Assoc meeting. Any lobbying that could be done with state legislators was requested. I'm not at all surprised it failed based on the perceptions by legislators in districts outside of Fargo, Devils Lake, and Bismarck. Lake Region and BSC were the other schools affected.
