Fargo, 1881 (http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/communication/collins/436history/pictures/fargo.jpg)

I ran across this trying to find a photo of Fargo to show to folks who had never heard of it... I think I've seen a Currier and Ives print from around the same time that was pretty cool - it's from NDSU's site.

I think the pic is near the site of the main ave bridge and the dam, such as it is now. *There was a lot of competition for the Fargo location all speculation on where the railroad would cross. *As a result there were two Fargos for a time: Fargo on the Plains and Fargo on the River or maybe woods? There were several other encampments on the river as well, all vying for the crossing. *

Later Photographs from the turn of the century of the same view show how this location evolved over time. *Ive seen the photos but cant remember where. * ??? *
