Go run in da furst annual The Scheels All Sports Fargo Marathon (http://www.fargomarathon.com/) dere den!

The first ever full marathon (and half-marathon and fun run) in Fargo is happening on May 14th. It's USATF certified and will be a Boston Qualifier.

Here's a map of the course- http://www.fargomarathon.com/MarathonRoute_April_28%20_2005.pdf for those interested in competing or just cheering on those that are running.

Already over 1,900 runners registered:

1,900-plus already signed up for races (http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm?id=90623&section=Sports) for the Fargo Marathon.

Pretty good for a first year event!

26.2 seems pretty long, but then you look at the map and realize that is isn't pretty long, it is very, very, very long! I was looking at it and think I could finish it in only 8 miles, there are some places that I would have to cut across at though. Then I realized that I probably can't run 8 miles right now so why even try.

I was thinking about running in it, but unfortinatly I'm not in good enough shape right now. I would do a half-marathon though.

I was in the same spot as X-Factor. I learned about it in January and I'd need half a year to get to that level. I could jog a few miles but that's about it (and it wouldn't pretty watching me gasp for air and vomit at the end)

Next year......

Isn't there a 5K you can choose to run instead?

Yes, there's a full marathon, a half marathon, a relay race, a family fun run (5K), a 1K kid's run:

Details here- http://www.fargomarathon.com/races.htm

The report on the WDAY news tonight stated there are over 4,300 runners already pre-registered for the Fargo Marathon, with over 70 additional entries per day. :o :o :o

In only it's second year, this thing is really starting to get some *ahem* legs....

Sadly, I am not. I contemplated the half-marathon, but the last two months at work have put a stop to any training or proper diet. :-/

I wish I could run in it, but the last couple years of college put ANY proper diet to no avail.

My wife wants us to run the marathon together. She just wants to say we did it. I, on the other hand, really feel no compelling urge to cross that bridge. We both jog, but a full marathon is insane.

Yes, best of luck to all the runners tomorrow. All 6,200 of them.

I hope they enjoy the 'Herd About the Prairie' Bison on display on the marathon course.
