As I was watching the Twins game last night, I heard Burt mention that Fargo got the contract for the American Legion Baseball World Series. Way to go Fargo! Not exactly sure which year it's for (missed that) - this or next - but kudos anyway. :)

It is for 2009. *This has been known for a while now. *It will be held at Newman Outdoor Field. *Was cool to hear about it on the Twins broadcast last night.

The Legion World Series has been held in Fargo before over at Jack Williams, I believe back in the 80's or so. If memory serves, I think Barry Bonds even played here with a team from California.

I heard that last night as well. Good for Fargo. Rapid City, SD hosted it last year and from all accounts, it was a great event.

Newman will be such an improvement over Jack Williams to hold an event of that size. And thanks to the Redhawks on agreeing to be on a long road trip during the event.

Lots of baseball in the FM area in 2009. Bison, Redhawks, Legion World Series, and the God Bless America Tournament (supposedly 80+ teams in the FM area this weekend and the tourney is growing).

Great Finally in '83, Boyerstown fielders collided and Edina won the Championship game. Roger Maris and Moose Skowron were in the crowd that year.

It looked like the two Fargo Legion teams didn't play in the God Bless America Tourney this year. *Anyone know the scoop on that?

Found my old Newspaper Insert from 1983.

Greg Jeffries and Rick Bonds played for San Mateo, CA
Darren Flutie, Doug's little brother played for Natick, MA

Not sure if any future famous players were in the 1992 Series in Fargo.
