Hey, I just got around to listening to this week's Bison Feedback.. somebody asked about establishing a Thunderzone.

So two questions:

How many are interested in sitting in a section of seats reserved for loud fans?

Do you think it might work better to put the Thunderzone up in the high seats so there'd be nobody in back to telling you to sit down the whole game?

For next year, there will probably ten in my party.

I'm in row T right now, there is NO WAY I'll go any higher than that. In fact I don't think we should sacrifice enthusiasm for seats.

Instead I think we try to get from the field to the concourse in front of a suite, they won't need us to sit.

Throw it in the front of a section, that way it might *gasp* become contagious. Also, volume is a logarithmic function of distance (if memory serves me correctly), so the closer the loud people are to the field the greater the effect.

There already is a grassroots effort for Section 20 to become the Team Makers Thunderzone (at least the first 10-15 rows), but people need to know about it. The ticket office is aware of it, and is trying to get people in there, but there has to be demand for it.

I also like the idea of promoting the existing Thunderzones in the endzones. Maybe try to entice families into the north endzone, and the rowdiest of the rowdy into the south endzone by the students. Other than stating how much tickets are for the Thunderzone, they sure don't promote it, or explain what it's purpose is. Get some promotions going for it. The loudest (for the entire game), craziest row in a Thunderzone gets free Cheesy Bread- That takes care of the Domino's promotion and enables the fans to make some noise without being chastised.

If I didn't have season tickets next to my father, I would be in the Team Makers Thunderzone next to Bisonfan1 in a heartbeat. :-/

It was so nice to be at the SDSU game and feel like you could stand the whole game without someone telling you to sit down. That is what football is all about, and it is time that a bison fan can feel that way in his own arena.

I'm definitely going see about getting seats in section 20 21 next year.

It really shouldn't take that many people to fill up a section from the entrance down... what is that, six rows, 15-20 seats across?

How are the sight lines that close to the field.

Doh!!!

It's section 21 were the TM Thunderzone is at. I sit in section 20 ::).

Tony, I think concourse level is row I, but I'm not positive. The sight lines are great, but it's a little more difficult to be analytical while watching in the first couple rows. The excitement up close when the other team is pinned deep or the Bison are driving for a TD more than makes up for it. It does get a little far away at the opposite EZ, but the videoboards let you see all the action. Go peak at the concoure level in that area during warmups or something.

Sweet...I always wanted to be part of a "grassroots" effort. Those section 20 kids sure are crazy.

Section 20 is sane. Section 21 is insane.

That is, of course, unless section 20 is insane and I would therefore be insane and might not know what sanity is any longer.

The TM Thunderzone is starting up in section 21, although there are a some guys in the front rows of section 20 that like to stand.

It's going to take some work to get this going.
Last week, I was in 21, row AA, kinda high but couldn't see or hear any significant fan action from the lower rows.
Got my tix from the Alumni Assoc and they had tried to put as many of us alums together as possible.
I would have loved to be in the rowdy section.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. I'm in for four.

Did anyone else find it downright pathetic that the announcer had to basically grovel and beg people to make noise on big defensive stops? :-[ :-[

Yes I did, as Ive said before, there is no reason people cant get off their fat butts for in the very least all defensive third downs. We were trying to get people up all day and I must say it is getting slightly better. I saw alot of people in section 20 in the lower seats up quite a bit and that is good to see. It does suck to see only about 1/4 of the people up when the game is on the line. We had some people sit by us after the game started who brought a baby, was covering the baby's ears and giving us dirty looks. News for you lady, we are season ticket holders, you are sitting in the Teamakers Thunderzone on a single game ticket, leave the baby at home, or go sit with the living dead sections if the screaming and yelling is disturbing the baby. Im going to sound like a broken record until next year, we need to get alot of passonate fans in the lower sections 20 and 21 next year, it is real fun to stand up and cheer as a group and chant with the cheer team, then sitting all game on your hands. They really need to promote these sections as such, so some of the dead can request to be moved rather than sitting with us lunatics.

I was about twenty rows above you BisonFan1 and I was up on EVERY third down. I didn't care if anyone gave me dirty looks, I was supporting my team.

Whatever it takes. ;D It's a change of fan behavior, and it needs some help. It isn't going to happen on it's own. If it takes a bunch of people with cattle prods to make the fans create some noise, so be it.

It doesn't help when dome staff comes down and threatens a member of your party with "being escorted from the premises" and then gets one of Fargo's finest to watch over you the rest of the game for absolutely no reason.

The most pathetic part of this? I have reason to believe it was the advisor of the cheer team (who's husband and kids sit in the first row of section 20), who was the complaining party.

I don't think the advisor of the cheer team would complain if you were yelling tasteful things. One of the main reasons a lot of people don't cheer at the games is the fact they find some of the things said/yelled by the vocal minority at the FFD to be offensive. There is no need for profanity/obscenity, but unfortunately some think its just fine to yell such stuff at a football game and to get mad at others who refuse to participate in such banter. Examples...the cheer about #2, the ending of "On The Plains".

tsk, tsk, you two. If you don't know for sure that somebody did something, you probably shouldn't accuse them in a public forum - are we UND fans? :)

HerdMentality sure doesn't give the impression of being a guy who swears at the top of his lungs - but I wouldn't be surprised if he was taunting the other team's punter. And of course HerdMentality has no way of knowing for sure that it was the cheer team spouse who sicced the Man on him.

Anyway, not cheering because you don't like what other people are yelling is ridiculous.

Oddly enough, I think Bison football games are the only place I've watched my profanity, etc. Family Game!!!!

However, you bring a player to the game who's jersey is 4 sizes to small...he DESERVES to get some grief.

See (do away with the loud music thread) Join Teamakers next year and ask for section 21 or 20, lets get it rolling, also a great idea about multiple thunderzones !!

I'm really going to work on some people this weekend to see if they'll get season tickets and sit in 21 next year.

Theres been some open seats down in 21 all year, move on down this game if seats are open and check it out. SDBison sits right behind our 6 seats in row E. One of the rowdiest in our section has been to every home game since 1968 I believe.

Just make some noise I am down in the front in sec 16 sceaming one every defensive down, I have yet to have a sunday where i have had a voice. I wish that we could unite the students that are really into the games with the teammakers that get rowdy and have ourselves one hell of a Thunderzone. The dome has the possiblity of being the most feared stadium in the nation if we get people to make some noise,

Today was my first game in section 21. Most fun I've had at a Bison game in a long time. Definately getting season tickets in 21 next year.

Kudos to sec 21!!! You may not have noticed it, but you even had people in the living dead seating above you and to the south standing and (dare I say) cheering! The goal for the 2005 season should be to triple the number of rowdies!!!

I wonder if we could get single game thunderzone tickets for those of us Team Makers that can't get back to every home game?
