Slator is a fixture at that bar. He should be the mascot, just him sitting in the corner with his Batman hat on working on who knows what.

Most laid back teacher ever I think.

Hehe - is he a comp sci teacher? I think I had a professor by that name - think it was his first year at NDSU who taught some fluffy class like Comparitive Programming Languages. I'd have forgotten all about it but he quoted Cool Hand Luke the first day of class... heck, this must have been way back in 1988. Can this possibly be the same guy?

Wouldn't say the Turf was really hopping last night like some other bars...but they got the job done. Sambini, we tried to drink Anheiser Busch dry of Bud Light. We didn't quite reach our goal...but we got them working nights! ;D ;D

Yeah Tony, Slator is a CS professer. I think our first day of his Comparative Programming Languages class he told us about his system for betting on the football games that he used in Vegas over the winter break.

I still see him as a cross between 'The Dude' and Tommy Chong

Who remembers the old old days when it was called Nick's Place?? That was the undergrad years for me. I think it was the turf by the time I was a Jr......

I also went there when it was Nick's Place. Best memory: went there for beer and onion rings a number of times after a philosphy class. The teacher, who was a Catholic priest, also made the trip with us.

Was it just beer when it was Nick's place? I'm guessing it was since the Turf didn't have liquor until somewhere in the mid-90s.

I remember when it used to be called the Hasty Tasty. Us students used to joke around and call it the Hasteless Tasteless. Oh, those were the times.

Hahaha!!! Probably is...but it sure is nice...I'm guessing you could compare it to putting a $3000 stereo system in a $300 pos??? ;)

I remember when it was the "SU Hasty Tasty" and when it was the "Red Onion", or was it the "Red Pepper" (very briefly) in the late 70's.

sambini
