Bison men had a nice win at the Ralph last night, 64-57. Held Beasley to 6-23 from the field. St Cloud and USD should be the top teams to beat. SDSU has lot 4 players from last year, due to injury and suspension.

Bison women lost on a buzzer beater, 68-71. Should battle for second with USD and SUE. SDSU is the class of the league.

Anyone have any thoughts on how the Bison teams will finish?

I'd be happy if the men finished in the upper half of the conference standings, as they were picked to round out one of the last three spots. The women seemed sluggish in their game.

At this point St. Cloud appears to have the upper hand, with UNO fairly strong as well with their Purdue transfer to make their inside game go. The Bison have surprised so far. Mn. State has not done what its' fans had hoped, but they do play well at home; I'm looking for them to give the Bison a good game this Friday. SD, SDSU, and ND all have the capability to challenge for first as well. On the women's side, yes, SDSU appears to have all the ingredients for a conference title; they are really strong and physical.

Were any of you up in Grand Forks for the BB games?

I was.

Did you happen to catch the 'entertainment' during the various breaks? It was a guy dressed in a Bison BB uniform and he was, apparently, supposed to be mentally handicapped.

This infuriated me! At the beginning of the game, UND does its lip service for the native americans, on how they use the Sioux logo out of respect....blah, blah, blah"

They have respect for Native Americans....but not handicapped people.....how hypocritical!! You know that whole handicapped thing wouldn't have torqued me off so much if they wouldn't put this 'concerned face' and use it so selectively.

Also, they turned off the lights right as our cheerleaders were in their pyramid.........how considerate.

One good turn deserves another.............just wait til they see what we have in store for them in the BSA :)

Man,

Did CoCo light 'em up or what? Yeah, what's up USD!!

Denver was money, as usual. Wow, what are we ever going to do when he leaves next year? He is a total player!

That #5 from USD is a little prick, that's for sure. He was sure talkin' in the first half. When the Bison started taking over, he sure shut up though.

Why is their so little talk about BB on this board (not that UND's is much better)? Especially with the men's team getting back into the race this year. What is the word about Amy's thoughts on D1? I really would have to think she and Roebuck are the last two who want to move up with their success the past 15 years or so. Even though they could compete with most D1 teams, the UConn's, Tenn., and Duke's would blow them out.. Tough not to be on top once you have been there for so long!

SDSUFAN

I would not worry about the Bison Women being on the bottom for long. Going to D1, they will get recruits that they could not get with that sacred D2 title. Championship rings get lost in the drains of kitchen sinks or flushed down the toilet or worse yet they get filed in a jewerly box and tarnish, so whats the big deal about a D2 ring? ::) especially a D2 RING?

I was surprised by the Women's SDSU and UND Score. Not by who won, but by how much, 86-62. Now the Bison get to go to Brookings and face them. The men need this game to stay in second place in the conference. They still have two games coming up with St Cloud State, that will be really tough.

SDSUFAN

I wasn't at the game, but listened on the internet. Thank God Eddie doesn't do the women's games at UND.
The two guys they got are not too bad. Not really much for being homers. They just descriptive of what they see on the floor and seem understand schemes and plays. I enjoyed the announcers, but the game was no fun.

SDSU had close to 30 turnovers and to UND's credit they used different defensive schemes. SDSU is thin at the post, DeBoer is out for the year and the true freshman from Stillwater Mn, did not make the trip. I dont know what the story is on her. Hopefully she will be back for the Bison.

The Jack Women played their worst game since playing at Hyslop last year in the NCC Wells Fargo tournament last spring. *SDSU seems to really get spoked in that place much more than in Fargo. I dont know why.

Hopefully we will regroup both against the Bison men and women. *We want to avoid those 4 way ties for first.

Sioux Rocks probably had too much tequila or something thing like that. As cold as it gets in Grand Forks, you need a little warmth from the bottle to keep going. So be it Eddy or someone else, I just consider the source.

The Bison men are playing great these days. Three more home games, one being Trinity Bible College so that is a win for sure. Winning just one of two of the others against St. Cloud and the Sioux, I think, will get the Bison in the tournament. Getting two will guarantee it. Usually 20 wins means a tournament invitation.

It was a great road win in Vermillion. I wish the internet radio link from WDAY would have been working to listen to the game.

I hate to point this out to you, but the only nice facility you have is the Ralph, which you do not play basketball in very much. Your basketball arena is nothing to brag about and even makes the BSA look good. Also, the Alerus is just a big tin can. So I would be careful what you say about your facilities.

Looking at the attendence history for NDSU and UND men's basketball, I was surprised that UND does not have an average over 3000 fans per game over the last 10 years, all home games. Only 2 seasons over 3000 fans per game for UND. NDSU had 5 seasons over 3000 fans.

1994-2003

UND 2794 average over 144 home games

NDSU_grad
04-02-2003, 05:29 PM
I don't think these three leaving the program will hurt the Bison that much. Terry and Smith rarely saw the floor, and while Gabbert was a presence on the boards and on defense, next year we'll be needing more scorers to replace Tenbroek.

Schemer
04-02-2003, 11:22 PM
Yeah, I agree. All, with the possible exception of Gabbert, were not even regluar starters. Tyrone was nice coming off the bench. Jason Smith was not a very dominant player, that's for sure.

We need to bring in someone to have an inside presence. That'll open up the outside game for Adam D and Nemmers.

I'm glad to see Brandt go.....I still remember him holding up his fist whenever he would score. Man, that torqued me off.

An important goal for the basketball team is to get the NCAA basketball 13 years of hard time reduced. Maybe if the NCAA is so worried about money, they could hold the money back during that time frame, but still let us become full fledged Division I after a five year probationary period, just like football.

It's obvious that the DI teams are trying desperately to keep the DII nightmare from happening in their division. NDSU has to be an independent if we move up. After the snub we have recieved it's very clear to me that for the most part they dont want any new members.

How many gigantic hurdles do you have to jump? Some of the rediculous loudmouths on siouxsuck.com were right when they said nobody would welcome us. At least for the foreseable future that is the truth and NDSU is going to have to carve out it's own niche in athletics by being the best. That means community supporty, institutional commitment and individual support.

My TeamMakers check is in the mail. I hope the rest of you are doing the same.

The Sioux has some work to do next year. From the NCC Region it will be hard for them to try to get ranked. I just wonder why Brandt would want to leave UND for a Dac-10 school, when he would be a surefire player next year. Sure he said he has his reasons, but it still seems questionable. *Which teams from the NCC region are gonna look good?? Can NDSU reload with the loss of Tenbroek

JACKGUY
06-30-2003, 11:15 PM
I have a bias towards the Jacks but even with that said I believe the 2003/2004 SDSU team has a chance to take a path similiar to the SDSU women did this year. They lose Hanson/Stoebner and center Adam Robinson but return 4 medical reshirt starters in Cervaney,Schantz,Jones and Moeller. The Junior college players that joined them last year Melaney and Richardson will return with a lot of experience. They also have some solid role players that gained experience who helped them get all the way to the regional semi-final before losing to the the home team and eventula regional champ Ne Kearney by one point. They added four first team all-state high school players from Iowa that will probably all get redshirted based on the amount depth the team has. I think the future for Jackrabbit continues to look strong and we could make some noise leaving DII. Other teams that I think have improved in the conference include Minnesota State and Nebraska Omaha. In the region, Met State,Kearney,Fort Hays and Nortwest Missouri State seem to reload year after year.
