If we beat Montana this year, we should be competitive next year. As long as we go .500 or better its a good year.

UND on the other hand will need to make it into the playoffs to show anyone anything. The NCC isn't what it used to be.

If the rivalry ends between NDSU and UND it will be a big disappointment to many.
It's just not the same hammering on people multiple states away as it is having each other just up or down the road.
Props to both your Universities for having savage fans that will do anything to support your respective teams. The rest of us D-2's could only wish they had such strong support.

I have yet to understand where you guys are getting your "holier than thou" attitude (besides the obvious fact that you are from Fargo and everyone there seems to think that their nose actually belongs that high in the air.) You had at best a mediocre season and lost to two "lowly" D2 teams. Its admirable that you still have the guts to show your faces anywhere and try to act like you deserve respect for a season that ended almost a month ago, granted it was an improvement on the impossibly pathetic season the year before.

The first team is a good D2 team. UND has become a D2 powerhouse in the last ten years and SCSU had the makings of a great team, but had disappointing loses?

The worst thing is that UND has no tradition, they have very few tried and true fans.

While it was hard not to become a fan of the Bison in the past, we aren't a bunch of fair weathered fans. We also happen to know something about football and humility, we'll take our lumps you can have division 2.

First of all, the sioux fans on this site are NOT the reason there is so much UND/NDSU smack talk....you all need to get a life and quit starting threads about UND.

Second of all, powerhouse and NDSU? thats an oxymoron if I ever heard one!

Third, good luck trying to muster up rivals. Rivalries involve history, tradition, and teams that can actually compete. No team will consider you a rival as they continually wipe the floor with you. NDSU will be nothing more than stat padder for 80% of the teams they play against.

Fourth, decent record?...hahaha.....stop it, you're killing me.

Just think if the SUE ever moved to I-AA, it would take 7 years to become playoff eligible in Football. 18 months NCC waiting period, 5 year I-AA transition period. There is a buyout clause, but would the SUE pay it.

Low IQ Leads To Death Row Reversal

OMAHA, Neb. - A three-time killer with an IQ of 65 was taken off Nebraska's death row Wednesday, saved by a law that bans executions of the mentally retarded.

Clarence Victor, 66, had his death sentence reduced to life in prison because of a state law passed last year that made it illegal to execute anyone with an IQ below 70.

``He was pleased,'' defense attorney Mark Weber said. ``He leaned over to me and repeatedly said, 'Thank you, thank you, thank you.'''

State Sen. Ernie Chambers, who sponsored the bill, sat in the courtroom with Victor's sister.

``This law should not have been necessary because no civilized, mature society would ever entertain the possibility of executing anybody who was mentally retarded,'' Chambers said afterward.

The state attorney general said he would appeal.

``What this law does is let people with below-average intelligence, who do understand that it was wrong to kill, to escape the death penalty,'' Attorney General Don Stenberg said.

Victor was sentenced to death in 1988 for the 1987 beating death of Alyce Singleton of Omaha. He also had been convicted of manslaughter in 1964 for strangling a 40-year-old woman, and of second-degree murder in 1976 for slashing the throat of a 24-year-old woman.

Of the 38 states with capital punishment, Nebraska is one of 12 that prohibit execution of the mentally retarded.

Of course you wouldn't have heard of the chancellor term because at NDSU, they are always second tier. Chancellor has been used for years, mainly for tradition. Something NDSU knows nothing about.
