Looks like NDSU won't be playing Montana next season as Montana's one open date was Sept. 25 and UNC has that date now.

Very impressive schedule from the Bears.

Helluva job by Northern Colorado.

Florida Atlantic is the DI-A school.

Thats an exciting schedule for their fans. There is a chance I might be able to see the NDSU game.

Didn't FAU lose to Colgate in the D1AA semi's last season? Or was that FIU?

It was Florida Atlantic. They beat Northern Arizona in the second round of the playoffs at Flagstaff and then lost at home to Colgate in the semi-finals.

Both Florida Atlantic and Florida International are moving up to the I-A ranks this season and I believe will eventually join (if they haven't already) the Sun Belt Confrerence.

I see.

Why the hell are they moving up? It's not like that sort of move is cheap or anything. And they definately won't be competing for anything.

You already beat Montana last year and now it is our turn. ;) We squandered our opportunity in '02 as the game was tied 14-14 at the start of the 4th quarter and the team lost its cool. UNC's QB threw a pick that led to Montana points and then UNC unraveled. The difference now is that after losing to the Bison last year and the close call against UNC in '02, Montana will not be taking UNC lightly. Actually, since UNC finished ranked #19, no team will take them lightly.

I think their ranking was deserved but next season will be their chance to prove it.

This will be a very tough year for the Bears, there is not one "gimme" on the schedule. last year I could reasonably say that they would not lose one home game. This year they could lose every home game (not that I think they will, but it is possible). Whereas, it was impossible for UNC to lose to Adams State or Augustana last year.

Also, I will be interested to see if this impressive home schedule will translate into more fan support.

No offense to Southern Utah...but i don't think they are anywhere near the level of competition that the rest of the GWC is.

Why are the Bison moving up? I'm sure Florida Atlantic and Florida International have some of the same reasons as NDSU does.....

look how far Central Florida has come....Florida is loaded with talent....start chipping away some depth from Miami, FSU, UF

and in short time you have a competitive D1 team.

I think you will be surprised at how talented Southen Utah is. UNC by no means dominated them last year when they pulled off the win.

Hey, does Southern Utah still run the option?

If Southern Utah is the worst team in the Great West, then the Great West is going to be a darn good conference - probably a little tougher than a lot of people would like.

We hear about Southern Utah quite a bit here in Green River (our TV comes out of Salt Lake) and they are not at all a poor program. They are a quality team in the GWC.

I don't think they run the option but I can't remember. Based on how much they pass, I don't think so. UNC won 29-25 but one of UNC's touchdowns came from a hail mary pass as time ran out in the first half. UNC was very lucky to win that game. This was a very even game as you can see by the stats below.
