...not allow their football teams into the D1-AA play-offs (clearly some of them are good enough) but will allow their basketball teams to go to the big dance (Princeton)??

It's actually quite simple. Their hypocrites. :) If you want a better answer go to anygivensaturday.org and ask. Ralph, one of the moderators over there posts on here from time to time and may have a better answer also.

If they say they are skipping the DI-AA playoffs because they are worried about academics, they are either being hypocritical or ignorant. Basketball takes a lot more time away from academics - even without the postseason.

The Ivy League does a big chunk of change for going to the BB tourney as opposed to losing money in the DI-AA football playoffs. There is more to it than that, I'm sure. I'd love to see Ivy League schools in the FB playoffs.

Perhaps it's as simple with the Ivy's not wanting to associate themselves as being D1-AA in football vs. being D1 in basketball.
