The Pitch (http://www.bisonville.com/thepitch.html)

(Clicking on the above link will take you to a webpage, you have to click the "The Pitch" hyperlink there to get to the video)

BisonInTexas sent me the digitized version of The Pitch. I edited out the commentary from Ed and the defensive stop at the Bison 2-yard line that set it up (the former because if I use Ed's voice, I really should pay Ed and the latter was to keep the clip as short as possible).

Notice that WDAY had three different angles on the play - and this was back in 1985. Should have brought that crew to Missoula.

Also noticed that Molstre is still in the right position even though the play looks like its dead.

I think you''ll need QuickTime to view the clip.

Its a thing of beauty, and the reply shows it was legal. Look at the speed Molstre generates after he gets it! He stayed in position ready for the pitch even after Bentrim appeared to be going down. That was a good football team.

Boy do I remember watching that on TV....probably the most incredible pitch ever made, let alone the most incredible play in Bison Football history!

Tony, thanks for the clip! Brings back memories of being at that game. There was a huge crowd of BISON fans at the game, and we were rocking the place!

You should be thanking BisonTexas. He did all the work (and told me how to get all my VHS tapes transfered to electronic format).

It's not hard at all...all you need is an RCA or S-video cable and a video card with an RCA or S-video input. It's pretty basic.

Alas I too was too little to remember that day, but seeing it again is a thing of beauty. THAT WAS ONE HECK OF A PITCH!!

That's fantastic. Is there a link to the video from the homepage?

No, but I think once I get a few more clips, I might have to start a highlights page. There are a couple of Tony Satter runs that are almost as spectacular as The Pitch.

I bought a video from WDAY reviewing the history of NDSU when they were celebrating their 100th year. I watch it every year before the season starts.

It includes "the pitch" and many other highlights from the glory years.

You need to contact WDAY. They should have all the games on file somewhere.

Any luck on finding videos of past games, or other clips for a highlights page?

That would be a great addition to this site. Classic plays never get old, and are still fun to watch. Terrific idea. :)

Any luck on finding videos of past games, or other clips for a highlights page?

About 7 years ago when I was attending NDSU I tried to put together a website containing games, highlights, the Satter "can't touch this" clip, etc from the 80's.

My queries into wday always fell flat - mostly dead ends and rediculous comments about the web. Hence the dream faded away...

Someone should try it again though!! Maybe nowadays the web is an excepted thing and a deal on licensing could be worked out?
