I was optimistic about this team this year but it is fading.

I'm actually still optimistic, Jory is still sorting through what he has and some players are still getting their feet wet. Moving Draper to the 5 has worked well, Avery Koenen and Abbey K are both getting better every game and I think Marwa, KEY and Leah McKenzie are all going to get stronger as the year goes on. Have to remember Marwa and Leah didn't play at all last year and went from playing international ball to D1 so there's an acclimation period that's going to happen there. KEY is still coming back from a shoulder injury, she didn't start practice until like 3 days before the opener. The good news is the defense has been solid, which I thought would be our bigger issue, I'm more surprised we've struggled on offense but I think we'll continue to get better as the season goes.

Our schedule has been tough. Harvard and Toledo are both excellent teams, Harvard made it to the Elite 8 of the NIT last year and their only 2 losses this season are to Maryland and Baylor who are both Top 25 teams. Toledo won the MAC last year and upset Iowa St in the tournament and their only losses this season are to Cincinatti and Gonzaga. Friday against Eastern Michigan will tell us a lot about this team, that's a game we should win along with the cupcake against Mayville before they go back to the ringer against a good Drake team and Iowa St.
