Bison have another 3 home games remaining before the conference schedule begins. NoCo and Pine Bluff should be a couple Bison confidence boosters, while Creighton might be more comparable to the upper teams in the Summit. Creighton is currently 0-2-3 but played a fairly tough schedule so far with B1G, SEC, A10,and Big 12 opponents.

I'd love to see SDSU's 5 game or Denver's 9 game winning streaks end this season.

Currently sitting at 2-2-2 and 1-1 in exhibition games.

Bison add another W before the conference schedule starts with a 3-0 win over Arkansas Pine Bluff

Bison start conference play with a pair of ties and a loss at SDSU.

RPI current for conference games.

Would have been nice to pick up 3 pts vs KC. The next 3 games will be huge to hopefully pick up 7-9 points and get out of the bottom third of the conference standings.

Bison with a draw at St. Thomas and a loss at Oral Roberts to end a 3 game 1 point total road trip. Any chance of making the Summit League tournament (top 6 of 9 teams) and a conference win now most likely comes down to the game vs UND this Sunday. 5 tournament spots are pretty much sewn up, but the #6 spot is still a possibility. A win would potentially give them enough points to move ahead of KC who still has to play Denver, Omaha, and both SD schools.

Looked up RPIs of NDSU's Wins from 10/1- out of 347 teams:

NDSU- 214
Austin Peay- 304
Coastal Carolina- 248
NoCo- 328
APB- 335

I haven't been able to make any games this year, but am wondering if this is really poor recruiting or coaching causing this????

It was the battle to the bottom of the Summit League, so there was plenty to pump up. A win would have placed NDSU in a very good spot to secure a Summit Tourney ticket.

Bison now in 8th place and with a road game at USD and a home game vs Denver to finish the season. It's going to be extremely tough to gain enough points for a Summit Tourney spot (top 6 in the tourney, Denver currently #1 and USD #4).

NDSU RPI currently at 234 and the 4 Draws are against the bottom half of the Summit.

This one might be shaping up to be one of the worst. Have to go back to 1997 for a winless conference record and that was with a 4 team NCC.

I would say at this point it's time for a coaching change. I don't know if Dan Weiler wants to come back to the area but he would be my top choice for next head coach.

Would he want to? Head coach at DIII national champion John Hopkins might be a much better gig than the NDSU job. Might be more difficult with the higher admission requirements, but has to be easier than skipping over players in your region and trying to recruit players from other parts of the country to play at NDSU.

John Ross might have been a good option as well a couple years ago, but pretty sure he's done coaching.

No idea if he would want to and I agree with being able to recruit much more regionally at John Hopkins. I know he still has lake property near here and he has a large family that mostly still live in the area.

Past decade of conference finish and records:
2013- 3rd 4-3
2014- 4th 4-2-2
2015- 1st 7-0-1
2016- 1st 5-2-1
2017- 3rd 5-2
====Mike Regan Hired====
2018- 3rd 6-2
2019- 3rd 4-2-2
2020- 5th 7-8-1
2021- 8th 3-6
2022- 5th 4-5
2023- 8th 0-2-4 (Current standings, 2 games left for NDSU and 3-4 for most other Summit teams)

Looks like Mark Cook's recruits kept the program going for two years and now has been depleted of whatever mojo they had to finish near the top of the conference.

And now we see why only one point vs three points in the UND game was so important. UND knocks off ORU today and jumps over NDSU. NDSU now is in last place in the conference with game remaining against #4 USD and #1DU.

Hoping for a miracle finish to the season, but it's looking like the worst season in decades.

Do you think we're we looking at a "dead man walking" type of situation?

Possibly, but doubtful with women's soccer not being a higher profile sport. I can't think of another sport that's taken such a quick and consistent fall under the current AD. A bad year here or there maybe, but not leaving the top half of the conference and now finishing in the bottom half or last/near last place consistently.

Bison drop the last road game 2-1 to USD. Looks like they were generating shots and had mire, but not enough finding the back of the net.

Next up #1 in SL Denver to finish out their last hope for a lone conference win for the season.

Great win over Denver but it looks like it will be too little, too late as UMKC is leading USD 2-0 at time of posting.

Wish I could have watched the game. Wondering if it was the Bison playing well or Denver letting off the gas with a top 2 spot secured.
Good fight to finish the season, but looks like 7th in the Summit is the best they can hope for. Need to have some wins against the bottom of the Summit to make it out of the bottom.

Congrats to Abby Wilkinson- wins the Summit League GK of the year award along with First Team All-Summit League.

Wilkinson was the only Bison on the Summit First, Second, or Honorable Mention teams this season.

Congrats to Amaya Garrett who was named to the Summit League All-Newcomer team.

In Summit playoff news, SDSU takes care of business to move on to the Summit Final along with Omaha who took down Denver 3-2 in penalties after a 2-2 tie (2OT).

Maybe the season didn't live up to everyones expectations but it looks like they signed some good firepower for next year's team.

Snagging the reigning State Player of the Year is also pretty good for the program.

What's the goalkeeper situation looking like for next season?

Hopefully the more local recruits can help with whatever bad mojo was present this year.

It's great to pick up the ND Player of the year if they're a good fit. Recent winners have played at U Mary (2 time winner), Western Washington (D2, but 2022 national champs and would probably beat NDSU), Wisconsin Green Bay (2 time winner- current RPI is 323, NDSU at 223), and Minot State, so not always the talent level that NDSU needs to move out of the conference cellar.

GK- tough to say- have 2 on the roster, with JR next season Payton Mulberry having played in 4 games in 2022 and none in 2023.
Defensively, NDSU was near the top of the conference (3rd out of 9), so I don't think GK will be much of a concern.

Offensively, NDSU was near the bottom (8th out of 9), so I'm more concerned about who will be stepping up to get the ball in the back of the net with Paige Goaley graduating.
