Has anyone been keeping track of our home attendance this year? *I'm guessing around 13,000 - 13,500 for an average.

It was about 13,300 according to The Forum:

This season, including Saturday's home finale, the Bison averaged about 13,300.

Total attendance=79,614
Average attendance=13,269

Should be better next year with familiar faces SDSU, UNC, and UC-Davis at home.

And hopefully Nicholls and Weber as well.

Would also like to some Big Sky, Southland, and Gateway teams early on.

Forgot that Nicholls is making the return trip next year. *::)

Is Weber a home/home with the return trip next year? I thought there was at least one more split home/home other than Northwestern State with the return trip in 2006. *:-/

Shaping up to be a pretty good home schedule next year, other than Mankato. *:-[ Five home DI games, and possibly a Big Sky school on the schedule.

Do you have a link for Mankato coming next season? I hope not.

Weber should be a 2 year deal.

No link, but that's from the man that makes the schedule. The Mankato game was discussed on here or in chat, there are others that Gene told this to, as well.

One DII opponent at home isn't bad. It will give the guys some time to rest up. ;D
Two or three on the schedule is another story....

Problem with scheduling Mankato is that they are one of those teams that seems to play their best ball against NDSU.

Perhaps Mankato, er, Minnesota State University is thinking about moving DI?

WYOBISONMAN

I doubt that they have the cash.......

Mankato is on the schedule for 2005. The Weber State contract has an option for them. They can return to play a game in Fargo, or pay NDSU a guarantee for this year's game.

Bisonfan01234

We certainly could use the cash.

What other non-conference schools are on the 2005 schedule? It's interesting that Mankato is willing to play us, but a certain school to the north of us isn't. :P :P

KTF

I really don't want anymore D-II schools on the schedule...I would much rather SU played all D-1AA schools if possible unless big $$ is involved the herd.

minotbison - do you really want to play that school to the north again? I don't, would much rather play NW state again, they are much better...

Bisonfan01234

No DII's, I agree 100%.

We have to pay them too, that's the worst part.

MinotBison
11-01-2004, 02:40 AM
Please don't misunderstand, I agree that we shouldn't play them anymore. In fact, screw 'em. ;D ;D ;D

I think virtually anyone would rather watch NW Louisiana than Duluth, Crookston, etc. I just thought it was interesting that lil' ol' Mankato would play us, and they wouldn't.

roadwarrior

Mankato has played Northern Iowa several times in the past, so it's unusual for them to play a I-AA team.

JBB
11-01-2004, 01:03 PM
Its a tough call, but you dont want to over schedule either. * Mankato is kind of a traditional DI-AA warmup. *they played UNI last season with the game looking like the NDSU/Carson Newman game I think is what roadwarrior meant. *

Bisonfan01234
11-01-2004, 01:12 PM
Except they're no where near as good as Carson.

I guess 1 DII is ok, please no fake DI's and NAIA's...PLEASE!

I think coach Bohl and the Mankato coach (his name
escapes me) are good friends.

Hey, as long as Coach Bohl wants the game, who am I to argue?

WYOBISONMAN

I think that UNC over-scheduled this year. That combined with a marginal team at UNC has produced a disaster this season.

Bisonfan01234
11-01-2004, 05:22 PM
You might think that, but looking at the scores they have been every single game.

I think with more luck they could've been closer to .500.

I would rather see us take a chance and scheule up versus taking the Minnesota approach of getting easy wins to start and then nose diving when the big boys come to town.

WYOBISONMAN

Hopefully the quality of team the Bison will field will be much better than what UNC had this year.....

McFeely or the Vikings Fanatic? It can't be the latter. No death threats were made in the thread where Walker was compared to Favre. ;D :o ;D

I just read Kolpacks blog on Bison Zone. *He is right, the two best teams to come to Fargo got the smallest crowds? *I was wondering about that myself. *The 3 games, SUU-Cal Poly-NSU should have been big. *Is it possible football fans in Fargo arent as sophisticated as we might think and they just dont know good football?

More of an issue with kickoff time than anything else. An overwhelming majority of voters in the Bisonguy kickoff time poll are in favor of evening kickoff times. A lot of people were busy with harvest, high school football games, etc. and were unable to attend. Judging by the number of callers on Bison Feedback a week or two ago, if last games would have been at 6:00 or 7:00, attendance would have been 15,000+.

No, the simple thing is that all Fargo knows is the NCC. They simply need to be educated on who is good in IAA.

Bisonguy
11-04-2004, 12:45 AM
There were plenty of NDSU NCC games with crappy attendance because they were afternoon games. The people have spoken. Night games are the the most attended games. Thank you, please try again.

Night games at Dacotah Field were generally reserved for the opener and maybe the next game or two. later in the season kickoff was at 1. That may have been a factor in the small crowds I always witnessed later in the season, but weather was often cold and windy and of course a night game was just about out of the question. I like the early afternoon game but, like most BISON fans I want the game to be played at the right time, the time that will give us the largest crowd.

5-6k?

I find the game time discussion interesting. It does seem that 6-7PM game bring in the most fans in Fargo area. Yet on the other hand it seems like most of the big conferences (1A) have no problem with 12 or 1 PM games.

So, it is the city, population, weather, fans, school tradition, television coverage, student body?

I guess I really have no point, because ultimately, NDSU has to do what will maximize attendence. :-/
