The conference should be weaker, but they lost some big contributors with Tanchin and Glover. If the youngsters up front improve, they could do as well or better this year. Boling and Ally Barth combined with Hinze offers a chance to have a really good attack, but Boling will need to be more consistent.

Everything will rely on Kelley Johnson to perform well and stay healthy. Eke Deneson had a severe health issue when the team took their trip to Europe. She was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) and has a long road to recover and get back on the court.

NDSU was picked to finish 2nd in the conference behind the defending champs, USD. Reigning conference setter of the year Kelley Johnson returns as does all conference OH Ali Hinze. They return standout libero Logan O'Brien and all freshman team member Ally Barth.

I'll be curious to see how they adjust for the loss of Syra Tanchin, who was a focal point of the offense, but I'm hopeful the team will be on par or better than last year's squad.

Dayton looked great, Bison rallied late, but still lose the first set 25-22.

Difference was at the service line. Too many service errors for NDSU and NDSU had plenty of poor passes early in service reception

Dayton looked like a really good team and NDSU just didn't do well serving and on service reception.

Team looked good overall though. Diverse attack options, O'Brien and Johnson are both great at what they do (although I think Johnson went a little dump heavy for a bit). I'd like to one more libero step up. Schmoll and Quan are a clear step or two below O'Brien

I know a few years ago when streaming services were still early and Roku and Firestick were competing to be the top streaming device, we found all the streaming apps were optimizing for those two devices and giving very little attention to Smart TVs. One reason is they could focus on the top two likely methods. On the SmartTV side there wasn't enough standardization between manufacturers to have a common app for all TVs. This meant you had to develop one for Sony, one for Samsung, one for LG, etc. They kept them simple and didn't update often. The biggies like Netflix and Hulu probably invest in the multiple versions, but smaller streaming services like SLN don't have the resource to create multiple versions for the different SmartTV brands. That may still be a limitation and issue. You are probably still better off getting a Roku or Firestick rather than using the apps on the SmartTV.

In the 3rd set, St Thomas was up 11-4, 16-10, and 18-13 before the Bison tied it up at 23-23. From that point it was Bison up 1, tied, Tommies up 1, tied, Tommies up 1, tied, Tommies up 1, tied, Bison up 1, Bison win 29-27!

I looked on my TV for any apps and there are none, I was however able to go to my Internet on the tv and find midcoplus and log in to watch that way.

One more match this week, hopefully they keep rolling and make it 3 sweeps in one week.

The depth is pretty impressive and surprising. Morgan Middleton was the conference player of the week earlier this year, and she hardly sees the court because of Lauren Jansen's emergence. Ally Barth was on the the Summit all freshmen team and doesn't have a huge role because freshman Ariana Blohm has had such a solid all around game.

Following this thread I have felt all season long the volleyball team was rolling but I checked the standings today and I see they are 5-4 in conference play which surprised me.

It does sound like they are playing well at the right time of year. How do we feel about their tournament chances this year?

That first set was pretty wild!

KC was up 23-18, and the Bison scored 5 points in a row to tie it at 23-23.

The next 14 points were alternately scored first by KC, then NDSU tied it. That got the score to 30-30.

NDSU went up 31-30 on the next point with our first opportunity to finish it, but KC tied it at 31-31.
Then KC scored, NDSU scored, KC scored, NDSU scored, KC scored, NDSU scored, making it 34-34.
NDSU went up 35-34 on the next point but KC tied it at 35-35.
NDSU then scored twice winning the set with a service ace at 37-35.

KC had eight chances to finish the set with a win after the score got to 25-25.

Huge win today in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament.

There was a 4 way tie for 1st in the regular season, but USD got the 4 seed in the conference tournament on tiebreakers. They also host the tourney this year and IMO, were the best team in the conference.

NDSU had to face them in the quarterfinals and battled to a 5 set win and on to the semi finals against top seeded UMKC.

They split with UMKC on the year with each team sweeping a match.

This team is capable of winning the conference, they just need to pass well to get to consistent swings for Hinze and Jansen.
