Getting excited to watch the Bison in Lincoln. Anyone coming down to Lincoln for this dual, let me know. I am planning on having a rather large contigent of fans at the dual and thinking about meeting up prior or after the dual.

Lets hope for a great 2022-2023 season.

I'm still on the fence, but I'm kicking around going to the dual and then MN vs Nebraska in football on Saturday

Go time vs Nebraska on BTN+

Hoping for a strong showing from the good guys. A win would be an incredibly tall task but not out of the realm of possibilities.

I'm not expecting Lovett for Nebraska at 149, but they have a ton of former blue chips recruits that make their team beyond tough.

Big match for Franek in what could legitimately be a national championship season. The top guys at 157 are all so close and this match will mean a ton when it comes to seeding NCAAs. He needs this one. Would love to see Caliendo, Parker, and Pentz all win too.

Negrete starting it off at 125. Hoping to see big growth in his aggressiveness and finishing from neutral.

Takes on a top 10 opponent in Liam Cronin. Can't be passive, need to get on the attack and finish quickly and avoid the scrambles.

Let's go blue chipper!

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:07 PM
Negrete in on a single, picks it up, Cronin rolls under an no points. Need quicker finishes

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:08 PM
An incorrectly called stalling on Negrete. He had his back out but Cronin was just pushing, which by definition, should be a stall on him.

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:09 PM
Good movement from Negrete, but he is dropping to all fours too much. Need to keep the movement up and get Cronin off balance. Cronin doing well controlling from the front head

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:10 PM
Re-attack single for Carlos but he can't finish. Doing well. 30 secs to go in the first

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:11 PM
End of the first and we're scoreless but Negrete has been warned for the stall. All of the offense came from Negrete.

Cronin starts down

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:12 PM
What a horseshit stall call on Negrete.

2-0 Cronin

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:14 PM
Literally the only guy who had been in on a shot (5 times) and they hit him for a stall.

2 more shots by Carlos, but can't finish.

2-0 starting the third.

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:15 PM
Bad shot and Cronin scores 2. Need a quick escape and a td

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:16 PM
Just need to finish his shots better. Cronin didn't do anything except push

Midkiff vs Dryden. I hate this matchup for Mac. HAVE to win it from neutral because Boo is a hammer on top

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:19 PM
Mac in deep on a shot, but Dryden's length prevents a TD

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:20 PM
Another good shot, but Boo's length and square hips prevent 2

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:21 PM
3 minutes and no offensive attempts. That's 100% stalling

Scoreless after 1

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:23 PM
Boo gets a td off a shot, and now Mac needs to really move

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:24 PM
Great job to get an escape with 10 seconds left.

3-1 heading to the third and Mac takes bottom (good choice)

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:25 PM
Mac gets away, down 3-2, but Boo has RT and has been hit for stalling

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:26 PM
Shot by Boo, crotch lift by Mac, and Boo finishes.

6-2 win for Dryden, 6-0 Nebraksa

Hardy immediately ankle picks Dylan for 2.

Dylan with a huge knee brace that you usually only see when guys have torn their ACL...

Dylan escapes and 2-1

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:30 PM
Great Hi-c on the edge by Dylan and he converts in the scramble for 2

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:31 PM
Immediately to a tilt for 4!

7-3 after 1. GREAT response by Dylan!!! Beautiful shot , good job in the scramble, and smooth into the tilt

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:33 PM
Hardy rides tough, but Dylan starts down and gets away.

8-3 Dylan leads.

In on a shot, need to get the head under, scrambling, converts out the back door!

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:34 PM
Dylan looking phenomenal after that early ankle pick.

Leads 10-3 after 2, did get hit with a late stall in the 2nd.

Hardy starts on bottom in the third

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:36 PM
Hardy just flat footed now, and Dylan in on another shot but Hardy negates it with a crotch lift. Scramble and Dylan cant convert

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:36 PM
Dylan can't get a TD in the final 20 despite another great shot and misses the major, but wins 10-4

Michael Weber vs Dayne Morton (from MN). Weber should win this

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:41 PM
third straight scoreless first. Weber has to start attacking.

Morton starts down

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:43 PM
Weber gets two boots in and breaks him flat, cranking on Morton. Stalemate to bail Morton out. Weber riding tough and over a minute of riding time.

Morton is a former 133 and Weber is a former 157. Weber should have a big strength advantage

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:44 PM
Weber pretty easily rides Morton out. 2 min of RT and will start the third on bottom.

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:44 PM
Morton cuts Weber and up 1-0. Appears it's going to be decided from neutral

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:45 PM
Morton with some non threatening half shots and Weber not doing anything. minute to go.

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:46 PM
Nice sweep by Morton and Weber slow to react, but no score.

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:47 PM
Weber hit for stalling and Morton scores with 1 second left. Good call if the tv clock was right. Overtime

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:49 PM
Heading to rideouts. Just a truly bad performance thus far. No real attacks or really any attempts to score in 9 minutes.

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:50 PM
Weber goes down first and gets away in 10 seconds

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:50 PM
Rideout with no stalling would win it, so Morton goes neutral looking for a stall or td

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:51 PM
Weber with the front head and no attempts by Morton and Weber wins 3-2.

Absolute snoozefest and that won't do moving forward.

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:52 PM
LFG Franek! Taking on returning 4th place AA Peyton Robb. HUUUUUUGE match

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:52 PM
Robb with an awkward TD off maybe a trip by Franek

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:54 PM
Robb rides very tough and racks up over a minute of RT before Franek gets away.

In a really tough spot now, and have to push the pace

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:55 PM
Arm spin for Robb and he is dominating Franek. 4-1 with over 1:40 of RT

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:56 PM
Need to see a replay of that opening TD because it was super awkward and may have been a slip, but Franek is not looking good.

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:57 PM
Franek finally gets away. 4-2 and Robb has 3 min of RT

Big Bird
11-04-2022, 11:59 PM
Game plan is to look for a tilt I guess, but then he lets Robb go. RT locked so 6-2 with 1:15 to go

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:01 AM
Franek converts one and cuts robb

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:02 AM
Franek loses 7-4. Not a good performance by Jared's standards, but he can beat him at NCAAs

Sax down 8-3 after 2 and will start on bottom. In good position to only give up a major.

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:25 AM
Sax holds onto a leg too long and goes to his back for 4. 15-5 with 45 to go, no RT

Let's go DJ. We need this one. i expect a big leap from DJ this year

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:29 AM
Nice shot but can't finish. Parker tilted Van Tassell to death in a 16-3 win last year

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:31 AM
Parker really needs to up the pace. He's more talented and NDSU needs bonus points.

Scoreless after 1 and Van Tasell starts on bottom. Let's get some tilts

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:32 AM
Cradle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful shot and finish. 6-1. Need to really pour it on now

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:34 AM
DJ gives up a late escape but leads 6-2 with over 130 of RT and will start on bottom. Need to escape, shoot, and tilt

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:35 AM
Immediate reversal. Tilt for 4!

11-05-2022, 12:35 AM

NDSU needs to win one of the final two matches to beat Nebraska

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:39 AM
Pentz just misses a td in a scramble

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:40 AM
Generous stall call against Pentz. He's not backing up and controlling the ties and has been closest to scoring. Just let em wrestle

Allred converts with 5 seconds left and Pentz trails 2-0

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:41 AM
Pentz escapes quickly. 2-1 in the second. Great shot by Pentz and just can't finish in bounds

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:43 AM
2-1 heading to the third. Owen with the strength advantage, Allred with the quickness. Allred starts on bottom

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:45 AM
Pentz riding super tough but time winding down. A ride out would send it to OT. Stalling on Allred

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:46 AM
Pentz called for potentially dangerous with 7.6 seconds left. Needs to ride out and not pick up any stall calls for OT

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:47 AM
GREAT job Owen Pentz. Overtime coming

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:48 AM
Allred gets the TD and it will be decided at HWT

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:49 AM
rFR Juan Mora will try to win it vs Cale Davidson

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:53 AM
Scoreless first period and Mora has been hit with stalling. He didn't do anything all period, but neither did Davidson and Juan held center. It's HWT and I hate the call.

Quick escape by Davidson. Juan has to try something.

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:53 AM
Nice re-attack by Mora but can't get his hand to touch and Davidson hit with a stall. I don't like that call either, but now we're even

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 12:55 AM
Mora nearly had 2 twice. Why not challenge?

Mora down 1-0 heading to the third and starts down

Big Bird
11-05-2022, 02:26 AM
Overall, great team win highlighted by the outstanding 2021 recruiting class. This was a great example of what this team is capable of.

125- Negrete looked improved but needs to finish a little better and needs to manage his positions better around the edge. Some refs will get pretty aggressive with the stall calls if you consistently drop to a quad pod on the edge. Overall, I was very happy to see him being more aggressive than last year and consistently getting in on Cronin's legs. Cronin is a ridiculous 7th year senior and has been in the top 10 multiple times. If Negrete can finish his shots better, he'll be a NCAA qualifier.
133- Midkiff looked solid. Good gas tank and was able to get in on Boo's legs. Was also able to get away from Boo. It was a bad stylistic matchup though with Boo's length presenting all kinds of challenges. Excited to see his gas tank tank and shots look good though.
141- Dylan looked great. That huge brace on his knee worries me, as you typically only see those on guys with torn ACLs like Andrew Sparks, Austin O'Connor, and Spencer Lee. He wrestled very well tonight and to be frank, that version of Dylan Droegemueller can be an All American.
149- Woof. Weber did not look good and didn't attempt to score in 10 minutes...yet he won. He was also facing a guy who was a multi year D2 starter at 133, who hadn't made NCAAs in D2. Hopefully March is in the lineup going forward or they go with Radenz.
157- Franek didn't wrestle close to his best. F=Gave up multiple takedowns and got ridden pretty tough.
165- Gave up a takedown but had a nice attack of his own right into the cradle. Beautiful. He's going to be in the top 20 all year and should be an AA at some point. He's great from neutral and I'm hoping he has picked up some tilts on top.
174- Sax surprised me in a good way. His gas tank was fine, his strength looked good, and his length was an asset up 3 weight classes. Still not much in the way of attacks, but his scrambling still gives him a shot and he is still a tough rider.
184- Parker looked great. His tilts were generally smooth, although I would like to see him load his hips a little more when taking a guy over rather than relying solely on momentum and upper body strength at times. He's going to be much improved this year.
197- Pentz had a couple nice attacks but couldn't finish them. His shot d wasn't the best and sometimes he can win with his strength when he's out of position.
HWT- Great win by Mora. He really ramped up his activity level in the third period and had some nice re-attacks. I would like to see him ride a little better, although he did well in the final seconds. I also would like to see him work on a "go to" shot, which could be his snatch single.

Other than Lovett did Nebraska hold out any other starters?

Bubba Wilson wasn't at 165, but I think Condomitti might just be the starter now. I think Caliendo would beat Wilson too.

At 184 I was expecting Nathan Haas, although I would still take Parker in a toss up. I think it's fairly safe to say Haas is better than Van Tassell.

Rumor is that Lovett is redshirting this year, so Nebraska has to figure out what they're going to do there, as Morton isn't the answer.

With Lovett, I think Nebraska wins the dual, but since he may be redshirting, it's a moot point. With Wilson and Parker, I don't think the result changes other than NDSU probably doesn't get bonus.

i was creeping on the Iowa rivals site and saw the same info regarding Lovett. Any idea what the plan is with March. I think an undersized March at 149 would be better than what we saw with Weber last night.

Interesting. I think the Bison Open and the Daktronics will shed more light on the way forward.

Weber is a defensive wrestler and usually tough to score on, but he has to open up more if he's going to be the guy. I'll be interested to see how he does vs outside competition and with more time post weight in. March and Radenz are both more offensive, so we'll see how they look vs somebody else.

With the new redshirt rules, perhaps they throw Peterson and Drexler in the mix too at some point. Athletes get 5 competitions for the year to wrestle attached and have to be attached to wrestle an open in the first semester. We could see something like freshmen wrestling at the Bison, Dak, and Midlands and then getting 2 duals in the 2nd semester. This would allow the high end freshmen a chance to get acclimated against largely D1 competition, get a couple duals, and still redshirt.

Spot on regarding Weber. I saw him lose 1-0 to Lovett in high school. Given Lovett’s high ranking coming out of high school I was pretty excited when Weber chose NDSU. But he’s never been able to generate any offense.
