lol I'm not old, and not balding yet, Im definitely active but still only an average athlete. My insurance says I'm "preferred' which says that overall I'm a little above average health for my age, but not elite lol.

Even at my peak physical shape a decade ago, my calves were still immense. not sure where this puts me haha

NDSU assistant wrestling coach Austin Marsden had an in home visit with him over a month ago. He's a heavyweight and the #29 overall wrestling recruit in the class of 24.

Sucks the refs had to get so involved but it was a hell of a game. New Salem wins 30-26. Ref made the game winning block, got hurt missed the showboating in the end zone because he was laying on the ground hurt. Collided with a cougar defender in pursuit.

Doesn't the U have one of those killer freakin' NIL deals (collectives) where even the players 3rd or 4th on the depth chart get a piece of the action? I know the university can't be a part of the NIL money bag operation, but don't those running the collective take care of everyone on the team?

Its becoming gross. To put a positive spin on it, the top of the FCS is better equipped to further dominate other FCS schools. Whoever organizes the most private money will be the winner. However the higher the level the more difficult it becomes. This will trickle down and make D2 really bad and D3 laughably bad. In theory if we do a good NIL. We could pick up every top D2 prospect and give walk ons enoigh NIL money to essentially make them a scholarship player

But the challange is do we lose donations for the endowment fund or facilities?

If he wasn’t dominate than that would concern me. Ogbu was not dominate at Shiloh either and received some good late FBS offers. Players need to have a killer instinct once the play starts.

My son graduated with a kid who was 6'8" and 380. He couldn't block to save his life, but he was big. Recruited by IU. They strengthened him up and got him to about 330. He started in the B1G for 2 or 3 years, and I believe it's still on the Packers practice squad.

If we look at NFL they share 48.5 percent revenue with the players as salaries. The administration, coaches and schools are getting rich while the players are not getting their share.

If we take for example the new Big Ten contract 1 billion a year. 48% of that revenue would be about 480,000,000 dollars should be shared/paid to the players per year. Take for example for numbers for the Big Ten _ we will say about 400 million should be player salaries for easy numbers.

14 x 85 x 75000 = Total Salary estimation 90,000,000

If I were to guess more on Landon Gauthier’s offer from Minnesota,
they wanted to get in before Wisconsin offers, with new Coach Fickell due to visit Gauthier this week. Fickell has been busy with his transfer portal/Cincinnati decommit prospects plus the rest of the ‘23 class.

It’s interesting to watch each school going into another school’s state, and maybe offering more borderline prospects. Getting something from your competitor is always good, right? That is why you often see Iowa State make the first P5 offer in Minnesota, for example.

But kinda to HerdBot’s point, I’d get a chuckle if someone would try to commit on those early offers. And if they can’t, well, it wasn’t really an offer. The player could always decommit if something better came along……like the homestate school.

And some more guessing, with Coach Fickell putting more emphasis to the East Southeast (Chicago Ohio Cincinnati’s recruiting footprint) and having success with it, perhaps a couple more Wisconsin high schoolers will be available in the future.

And one last ramble, I still like seeing NDSU build relationships with prospects in their traditional recruiting footprint. Even if their recruiting blows up later. But building those relationships, especially in this age if the Transfer Portal, so if things don’t work out the player might consider NDSU in the future. One example in the current class being Zenzen. Another example I hope on is that NDSU has offered a number of big DL’s the last few years, but lost them to the FBS. So if Martin Owusu or Ellineus Davis or Karter Menz become available in a year or two or three……

Being a small town farm kid I'll bet on NDSU. His brother Grey grew up in a small town and is in the agribusiness program. Pitt and Memphis don't have anything agriculture related. If you understand the culture behind farming, you'll know what I mean. NDSU assistant wrestling coach Austin Marsden had an in home visit with him over a month ago. He's a heavyweight and the #29 overall wrestling recruit in the class of 24.

He's had a bunch of interest from Big Ten, Big 12, MAC, and ACC schools for wrestling and football. He doesn't have any interest or rating on 24/7, but his rivals page has some updates on it https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2024/dillan-m-johnson-282898

He's also the cousin of former Missouri State standout DT Erik Johnson, who is starting his rookie year with the Colts this week.

Although NDSU has maintained some interest, I'm guessing the ship has sailed on this NDSU interest, as rivals has him up to 14 offers. Included in those offers are Iowa State, Kansas State, Mizzou, Cal, Cincy, and Tulane, with a bunch of visits to other B1G schools upcoming.

What I've found is that if you make an honest mistake (like calling a rancher "dude"), people will give you a pass. And if you are doing it just to give them crap, they also give you a pass if you have the gift of getting away with that kind of thing.
